HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances - No. 196ORDINANCE RO, , ,596 An Ordinance amending Ordinance No. 137 Entitled "An Ordinance Regulating Traffic and Parking of Automobiles Upon the Streets in the City of Lodi, providing a penalty for the violation thereof, and repealing all ordinances in conflict therewith" by adding thereto Section 12 and making in unlawful to drive an automobile over or across certain lines in said City of Lodi without first bringing said automobile to a stop. The City Council of the City of Lodl d$ordain as follows: Ordinance Number 137 of said City of Lodi entitled "~n ordinance regulating traffic and parking of automobiles upon the streets in the City of Lodi, provldiq a penalty for the violation thereof, and repealing all ordinances in conf'lict therewith" is hereby amended by adding thereto a section to be known as "Section 12" as f ollows : "Section 12: It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation, to drive or operate any motor vehicle over or across any of the lines hereinafter mentioned, when approaching the same from the direction hereinafter mentioned, respectively, without first b*inging such automobile to a complete stop immed- iately before crossing said line, the said lines and the said respective directions of' travel being as follows: When traveling in either a northerly or southerly direc- tion on Sacramento Street, School Street, Church Street, Pleasant Avenue, Lee Avenue, Hutchins Street , Cordier Street, Rose Street, Crescent Avenue, Nain Street, Stockton Street, Rashington Street, Grand Avenue or Garfield Avenue, before entering ghe intersection of any one of said streets or avenueswith Lodi Avenue, the points' which, or near which, said motor vehicle shall be stopped being now marked with a sign plainly lettered with the words "BOULEVARD STOP." -1- .. &y person violating any provision of this ordinance shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and on conviction thereof shall be subject to a fine not to exceed One Hundred ($100.00) Dollars or in default of payment of the same shall be imprisoned in the County Jail of the County of San Joaquin, State of California, one day for every Two ($2.00) Dollars of said Pine, remaining unpaid. This ordinance shall be published once in "THE LODI SENTINEL", a tri-weekly newspaper published and circulated in the said City of Lodi and shall be in force and effect thirty days from and after its final passage and publioation." I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing ordinance was duly and regularly introduced in the City Council of the City of Lodi, at a regular meeting held on the day of March, 1933, and thereafter finally adopted at a 20th regular meeting of said City Council held April 3rd., 1933, by the following vote, to-wit: AYES: Councilmen Clark. Keagle, Spooner, Weihe & Steele. (Mayor) NOES : councilmen None ABSENT : Councilmen None. Anril 3rd.. 1933
