Ordinance No. 19.
An ordinance providing for the setting apart of sidewalks.
The Board of Trustees of the City of Lodi do ordain as
follows:
Section 1.- There shall be set apart as a sidewalk or
pavement a space or portion of ground on each side of every
street, lane, alley and public place in the City of Lodi.
Section 2.- The widths of the sidewalks or pavements in
the City of Lodi shall be as follows.
On all streets in the city eighty feet in width the side-
walks shall extend twelve feet from the outside line of the
street.-On all streets less than eighty feet in width the
sidewalks shall extend ten feet from the outside line of
the street.
Section 3.- Any person, firm or corporation desiring to
plant trees along any of the streets of the City of Lodi
must, where the streets are eighty feet in width, plant the
same ten feet from the inner line of the street, and where
the streets are less than eighty feet in width, eight feet
from the inner line of the streBt.
Section 4.- Any person, firm or corporation who by virtue
of any franchise granted- therefor shall place upon the
streets of the City of Lodi any pole for the support of any
telephone, telegraph or other wire for any use, shall
locate the same in accordance with the following
regulations:
1st. A11 poles placed hereafter on streets eighty
feet in width must be placed so that the outer side of the
pole shall be 11 1/2 feet from the outer line of the street.
All poles hereafter placed on streets less than eighty feet
in width must be placed so that the outer side of the pole
is 9 1/2 feet from the outer line of-the street.

2nd. No pole shall be placed so as to obstruct the
entrance to any alley or more than one foot from the
side line thereof. All poles now standing in any alley or
the openings thereof more than one foot from the side
line thereof are hereby declared to be an obstruction
and a nuisance, and any person, firm or corporation main-
taining the same must, upon written notice of not less than
ten days given by the Marshal, remove the same.
3rd. Ali poles where practical must be placed
opposite the side lines of the lots fronting upon-the
streets where such poles are placed, and of a height that
the suspended wire shall not be less than twenty feet from
the grade of the street.

Section 5.- Any person, firm or corporation who shall
violate any provision of this ordinance shall be deemed
guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction thereof shall
be punished by a fine ndt exceeding $200.00 or by imprison-
ment not exceeding 100 days or by both such fine and

Section 6.- This ordinance shall be published by-2
the same in three public places in the City of Lodi.
Section 7.- This -ordinance .shall be in force and take
effect immediately on approval and publication.
Section 8.- All ordinances and parts of ordinances in
conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
