City of Lodi ,f?ntitled "AN ORDINANCE REGULATING THE\ yIRS ending Section 2 of ddinonce Number 21 of the
DEPARTMENT OF THE CITY OF LODI AND\TO PRO~IDE FOR BETTER
PROTECTION AGAINS FIRES THEREIN."
The City Council of the City of Lodi does hereby
ordain as fOllOws:
Section "2" of Ordinance Number "21" of said City
of Lodi entitled "AN ORDINANCE RFGULATING THE FIRE DEPARTIrENT
OF THE CITY OF LODI AND TO PROVIDE FCgi BETTER PROTECTION AGAINST
FIRES" THEREIN", is hereby amended by striking out al'l . oF-said
Section "2" in the said Ordinance "21" and by amending the said
Section 2 to read as follows:
Section 2: The Chief of the Fire Department, First
Assistant Chdef of the Fire Departnent, Second Assistant Chief
of the Fire Department, Foreman of the respective companies of
or the Volunteer Fire Departnent in said City, Fire Marshal and
Deputy Fire Marshal, drivers of fire trucks and apparatus, and
such other fire department employees in said city, as may
hereafter receive regular monthly compensation from said city,
shall each be appointed, from time to time, by resolution or
resolutions of the City Council of said City and shall each
give such bond or bonds as said City COunciL may from time to
time require, and shall each receive such regular monthly compen-
sation as said City Council may from time to time provide for by
resolution, and shall each hold office at the pleasure of said
City Council, and shall each be subject to removal from office
at any time, by resolution of said City Council, with or without .
cause and subject to the pleasure of said City Council.
In making all of said appointments, it shall be the
policy of said City Council to receive and folloQz the recomen-
dations of the Volunteer Fire Department of the City of Lodi to
the end that harmony shall exist at all times between the said
City Council, the said Volunteer Fire Department, and the said

fire department employees so to be appointed by said City council;
but no such appointment which may hereafter be made by said City
Council shall be invalid, by reason of the failure of said City
council to receive or follow any such recommendation or recomen-
dations of said Volunteer Fire Department.
All Eire depari3ment employees who may hereafter be
thus appointed by 'said City Council, shall automatically and
ex-officio become members of the Volunteer Flre Department of
said City.
This ordinance shall be published one time in The
Lodi Sentinel, a newspaper of general circulation, printed and
published in the City of Lodi, and shall take effect thirty days
after its passage, approval and publication.
I hereby approve and sign the foregoing ordinance
this 4th day of June 1928.

I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing
ordinance was duly and regularly introduced in the City Council of
the City of Lodi, at a meeting of said City Council duly and
regularly held on the 28th day of Uay 1928, and thereafter
finally adopted at a regular meeting of said City Council held on
the 4th day of June, 1928, by the following Vote, to-wit:
AYES: Trustees WEIHE ROACH HALE SHATTUCK AND SPOONER
