AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING FIRE LIMITS IN TIIEICITY OF LODI, SPECIBYING TIE KIND OF MATERIAL\ FOR THE CONSTBZTCTION OF VALLS OF BUILDINGS \HERE- AND PROVIDING: PENALTY FOX THE VIOLATION THEREOF. * I IIV, PROVIDIXG TEAT BOOFS SHALL BE COV D WITH INCOMBUSTIBLE MATERIAL, . I ----I. The Board of Trustees of the City of Lodi, d.0 ordain as follows:- Section 1:- The following shall be and are hereby declaxed to be the fire limits: All that certain section of said City of Lodi bounded on the North by the center line of Lockeford Street, on the East by the center line of Stockton Street, on the South by the center line of Vfalnut Street, and on the West by the center line of Church Street. Section 2:- Every building hereafter erected or enlarged within said fire limits, exceFt those intended to be used and which act- ually will be used as dwelling-houses shall be enclosed on all sides with walls constructed wholly of stone, well burned brick, terra cotta, concrete or other equivalent incombustible materials; and shall have the roof, top, and sides of all roof structures, including dormer windows, covered with incombustible material. 811 cornices shall be of incombustible material. Section 3:- Any existing frame building within the fire limits, f which may hereafter be damaged by fire, decay or otherwi A ,e to an amount greater than one-half of its present value, exclusiVe of the foundation, shall not be repaired or rebuilt, but shall be removed. Section 4:- At each floor level in all buildings hereafter erected, all stud walls, partitions furrings and spaces between joists where they rest on division walls or partitions, shall be fire-stopped \\ with incanbustible material in a manner to colmpletely cut off communicatiol by fire through concealed spaces. Such fire-stopping shall extend the ful: depth of the joists, and at least four inches above each floor lev -1 - .-I Stair carriages shall be fire-stooped at least once in the mdddle portion of each 'pun. Section 5:- The Chief of the Fire Department is hereby author- , ize2 ancl empowered to enforce the provisions of this ordinance. Section 6:- Every person, firm, corporation or his, her or their agsnt, servant, representative 01 eqlogce, violating any of the provis- ions of this ordinsnce shall be giilty of a misdemeanor and, upon coa- viction thereof, sho.11 he nunished by a fine of not less than ten dollars nor nox Ikm ttx-e-? hmdreci -dal.lare, or by imprisonment in the Couaty Jail for not more t,har-. ninety da,ys, or by both fine 2nd imprisonment; eoery day's coctinuanee of a violation of any of the provisions of this ordinance shall be deeried a separate md distinct offence, and shall be punisha'ol.'e accordingly. Section 8:- This ordinance shall be published once in THE LODI SEWIMEL, and shall be in' force and effective after its final passage and publicat ion.
