HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances - No. 1210ORDINANCE NO. 1210 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF LODI ADOPTING THE SAFETY/ SEISMIC SAFETY ELEMENT OF THE GENERAL PLAN OF THE CITY OF LODI The City Council of the City of Lodi does ordain as follows: Section 1. of the City of Lodi is hereby adopted. The Safety/Seismic Safety Element of the General Plan a) California Government Code Section 65302 (f) requires a Seismic Safety Element in all city and county general plans: "A seismic safety element consisting of an identification and appraisal of seismic hazards such as susceptibility to surface ruptures from faulting, to ground shaking, to ground failures, or to the effects of seismically induced waves as tsunamis and seiches. 11 "The seismic safety element shall also include an appraisal of mudslides, landslides and slope stability as necessary geologic hazards that must be considered simultaneously with other hazards such as possible surface rupture from faulting, ground shaking, ground failure and seismically induced waves." b) Government Code Section 65302 requires a Safety Element in all city and county general plans: "A safety element for the protection of the community from fires and geologic hazards including features necessary €or such protection as evacuation routes, peak load water supply requirements, minimum road widths, clearances around structures, and geologic hazard mapping in areas of known geologic hazard." Section 2. Plan to : It is the objective of the City of Lodi, through this General a) Identify existing and potential hazards to the public safety; b) Describe the potential risk: c) Determine acceptable levels of risk and protection; d) Minimize the adverse economic, social, and physical impacts from safety hazards and emergency situations; e) Ensure compatibility among land uses where hazards are involved; f) Identify problems and possible solutions in the provision of protective and emergency services; g) Delineate means by which public safety considerations will be Page No. 2 incorporated into public and private agency functions. Section 3. of Lodi is filed in the office of the Secretary of the Lodi City Planning Commission, 221 W. Pine Street, Lodi, California 95240 and certified by the City Clerk, as adopted by the Lodi City Council. The Safety/Seismic Safety Element of the General Plan of the City Section 4. hereby repealed insofar .as such conflict may All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are exit. Section 5. a daily newspaper of general circulation printed and published in the City of Lodi and shall be in force and take effect thirty days from and after its passage and approval. This ordinance shall be published one time in the "Lodi News-Sentinel", August, 1980 City Clerk State of California County of San Joaquin, ss. I, Alice M. Reimche, City Clerk of the City of Lodi do hereby certify that Ordinance No. 1210 was introduced at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Lodi held August 6, 1980 and was thereafter passed, adopted and ordered to print at a regular meeting of said Council held August 20, 1980 by the following vote: AYES: Councilmen - MC CARTY, MURPHY, PINmRTON, AND KATNICH NOES: Councilmen - None ABSENT: Councilmen - HUGHES I further certify that Ordinance No. 1210 was approved and signed by the Mayor on the date of its passage and the same has been published pursuant to law.
