"AN ODIN~CE F NESS HEREIN SPECIP THE CORPORaLTE LIMITS OF Tm C TY OF LODp,STATE OF CALIFORNI+, FIXING THE RATE' OF LICENSEITAX UPON THE COLLECTION'OF SAID LICEISE TAX AND PUMIS OF SUCH BUSINESS WITE~OUT A LICENSE, AND' REPEALUG CERTAIN ORDINANCES." , PROVIDING FOR TEE The Board of Trustees of the City of Lodi do ordain as follows 2 Section 1.- Section 8(b) of said Ordinance No. 82, is hereby amended to read as follows:- Section 8 (b). When the licen$e tax in this ordinance provided is per day, the same shall be due and payable each day in advance; when such licenee tax is per week, the same shall be due and payable each week in advance; when such license tax is per month, the same shall be due and payable on the first day of each month in advance; when such tax is per quarter, the same shall be due and payable on the first day of January, April, July and October in advance; and when such license tax is per year, the same shall be due and payable in advance at the time specified in this ordinance, and when no time is specified the same shall be due and payable on the first day of April in advance. Provided when a license tax is per quarter 8r per year a license may be issued for a fractional period in the first instance and a pro raw license fee charged, therefor1 , in all cases where a permanent business is to be conducted. Section 2.- Sutdivision 1 of Section 14 of said Ordinance No. 82 is hereby amended to read as follows:- Subdivision 1. Every person who solicits or takes order8 for goads, wares or merchandise, articles or commodities of any kind ( except newspapers and periodicals, and except those .who sell only to merchants, or traders for re-sale, md excepting those who have in the City of Lodi a fixed place of business, regularly kept open with some one in charge thereof for the transaction of the particular business engaged in during the hours customary for the transaction -1 - .. ef such business) shall pay a license tax of $ 25.00 per day. Section 3.- Subdivision 2 of Section 14 of said Ordinance No. 82 is hereby amended to read as follows:- Subdivision 2.- Every person who conducts an exhibition solely or principally of dumb animals [ excepting circuses) shall pay a license tax of # 25.00 per day. Section 4.- Subdivision 3 of Section 14 of said Ordinance No, 82 is hereby amended to reaa as follows:- mery person who carries on, practices or Subdivision 3.- professes to practice the business or art or astrology, palmistry, phrenology, life-reading, fortune-telling, cartomancy, clairvoyance, clairaudience, crptal-gazing, hypnotJsa, medimiship, phrobhesy, augury, divination, magic or necromancy, and demands or receives a fee for the exercise or exhibition of his art therein, directly or indirectly, either as a gift, donation, or otherwise, or who gives an exhibition thereof at any place where an admission fee is charged, shall pay a liaense. tax a.f $ 250.00 per month. Procided that no person shall be required to pay any fee or take out any license for conducting or participating in any religious ceremony or service when such person holds a certificate Crp ' ordination, or endorsement as a medium, healer or clairvoyant from any bQna fide church or religious association having branches or churches in other states and communities and which has a creed or set of religious principles that is recognized by all such churches or branches; provided further, that the fees, gratuities, emoluments and profits thereof shall be regularly accounted for and paid solely ts er far the benefit of said churcla 8r religious association. Section 5. Subdivision 4 of Section 14 of Ordinance Ne. 82 is hereby amended to read as fellows:- Subdivision 4.- Every resident auctioneer shall pay a license tax or $ 5.00 pay a license tax of #100.0oper day. per quarter.
