AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 12 OF ORDINANCE
NO. 444 ENTITLED, "AN ORDINANCE FIXING THE
COMPENSATION OF OFFICERS AND EMPLOYEES OF
THE CITY OF LODI AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES
AND PARTS OF ORDINANCES INCONSISTENT THEREWITH."
The City Council of the City of Lodi does ordain as fol1Qws:
Section 1. Section 12 of Ordinance No. 444 of the City of Lodi and
all amendwents thereof subsequently adopted be and the same are hereby
repealed.
Section 2. A new Section 12 is hereby adopted for Ordinance No. 444
and which Section 12 shall read in full as follows:
"Section 12. Vacation Leave with Pay. Every emplqyee shall
be allowed vacation leave with pay based on the schedule hereinafter
set forth; provided however that no vacation shall be granted auring
a probation period, but on successful completion thereof, vacatian
time shall be allowed for time served in probationary status.
upon authorization of the City Manager, earned vacations shall not
be carried over in excess of the amount earned in one calendar year
to any subsequent year.
Except
(a) Fulltime City employees having served continupusly
for the period hereinafter specified shall earn vacation
leave with pay based on the following schedule:

5/6 of a workday for each month of service beginning
with the first year through the end of the fifth year.
11/ 12 of a workday for each month of service
beginning with the sixth year through the end of
the sixth year.
1 workday for each month of service beginning
with the seventh year through the end of the
seventh year.
1- 1/ 12 workdays for each month of service
beginning with the eighth year through the end
of the eighth year.

v. 1- L/6 workdays for each month of service
beginning with the ninth year through the end
of the ninth year.
vi. 1- 1/4 workdays for each month of service
beginning with the tenth year through the end
of the fifteenth year.
vii. 1- 1/3 workdays for each month of service
beginning with the sixteenth year through the
end of the sixteenth year.
viii. 1-5/12 workdays for each month of service
beginning with the seventeenth year through the
end of the seventeenth year.
ix. 1- 12 workdays for each month of service
beginning with the eighteenth year through the
end of the eighteenth year.
X. 1-7/12 workdays for each month of service
beginning with the nineteenth year through the
end of the nineteenth year.
xi. 1-2 /3 workda-ys for each month oi service
beginning with the twentieth year and for
each year thereafter.
(b) The foregoing schedule shall be modified as to the employees
in the Fire Department so that they shall accumulate vacation
leave with pay at a rate which will provide the nearest
practicable equitable ratio to the schedule hereinabove set
forth.
(c) All vacations shall be taken at such time or times during
the calendar year as may be approved by the employees
department and the City Manager.
(d) No accumulated vacation time shall be allowed to any person
who is discharged from City service for cause.
(e) A person about to resign, about to retire, or who is to be
laid off without fault on his part, and who had earned vacation
time to his credit shall be paid for such vacation on the
effective date of such resignation, retirement or layoff.
(f) If a holiday falls on a workday within a scheduled vacation
period, one additional day shall be granted.

(8) An employee will earn full vacation credit for any month
in which he is in full-pay status for one-half or more of
his regularly scheduled work hours.

Section 3. This ordinance shall be published one time in the “Lodi
News-Sentinel, ‘I a daily newspaper of general circulation printed and published
in the City of Lodi and shall be in force and take effect thirty (30) days from
and after its passage and approval.
