AGENDA TITLE: SPECIFICATIONS AND ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS FOR POLICE
INVESTIGATIONS DIVISION SEDAN

RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council approve the specifications for one 1997,or 1998,
undercover sedan and authorize advertising for bids
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: This vehicle will replace a 1990 Pontiac 6000 sedan currently used by
an officer assigned to the Investigation Unit of the Lodi Police
Department.
The 1990 Pontiac 6000 is over 7 years old and has 104,000 miles. thereby meeting the minimum
replacement criteria of 4 years/60,000 miles. Further, the new vehicles are safer to operate and are
dependable. Anti -locking brakes and air bags are another safety feature that is lacking in the existing unit.
It is estimated that the vehicle will cost approximately $21,500 plus an additional $5,300 for the undercover
radio and emergency equipment. Total cost is estimated at $27,300 which includes $500 for
contingencies.
The specifications are on file with the Public Works Department.
