Pollution Control Facility Holding Pond No. 1 Embankment Rehabilitation

RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council approve the plans and specifications for the above
project and authorize advertising for bids.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: This project consists of excavation of eroded soil from pond bottom,
placement and compaction of eroded soil on the embankments of
Holding Pond No. 1, the installation of riprap on the slopes, and
other incidental and related work as shown on the plans and
specifications for the project.
The plans and specifications are on file in the Public Works Department.
FUNDING: This project is not budgeted until the 1998/99 fiscal year. However, since this work needs
to start in July, bidding of the project is proceeding to allow for contract award on
July 1, 1998. Also, according to the project estimate, an additional $85,000 will be needed
to fund the project. This additional funding is available from the Boiler Replacement
Project, which is budgeted to receive $85,000 in the 1998/99 fiscal year but will not need
the funding because that project has been completed.
