Roll Call by City Clerk An Informal Informational Meeting ("Shirtsleeve" Session) of the Lodi City Council was held Tuesday, April 24, 2012, commencing at 7:00 a.m. Present: Council Member Johnson, Council Member Katzakian, Mayor Pro Tempore Nakanishi, and Mayor Mounce Absent: Council Member Hansen Also Present: City Manager Bartlam, City Attorney Schwabauer, and City Clerk Johl B. Topic(s) B-1 Surface Water Treatment Plant Facilities Tour (PW) Public Works Director Wally Sandelin and Deputy Public Works Director Larry Parlin conducted a tour of the new Surface Water Treatment Plant located on Turner Road. Specific topics of discussion included the overall history of the project including the approval process and financing, anticipated plant operations, construction status, and the time line for the completion of the project. C. Comments by Public on Non -Agenda Items None. D. Adjournment No action was taken by the City Council. The meeting was adjourned at 8:00 a.m. ATTEST: Randi Johl City Clerk AGENDA ITEM f6*' CITY OF LODI COUNCIL COMMUNICATION • TM AGENDA TITLE: Conduct Surface Water Treatment Plant Facilities Tour MEETING DATE: April 24, 2012 (Shirtsleeve Session) PREPARED BY: Public Works Director RECOMMENDED ACTION: Conduct Surface Water Treatment Plant facilities tour. BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The Shirtsleeve Session will convene at Carnegie Forum and travel by GrapeLine bus to the Surface Water Treatment Plant site. The City of Lodi Surface Water Treatment Plant Facilities Project began construction in Spring 2011. This $36 million project will treat and distribute up to 10 million gallons per day of high-quality potable water to the City's water customers. The project is approximately 70 percent complete and startup is anticipated in Fall 2012. The City Council and meeting attendees will travel by GrapeLine bus, leaving at approximately 7:10 a.m. from Carnegie Forum. Limited parking for personal vehicles is available onsite. Personal protective gear is required of all visitors to the site and will be provided by the City. A brief presentation of the plant layout and operations will be provided in the partially -completed administration/operations building. Attendees may visit other facilities onsite, including the sedimentation basin, chemical -handling building, high service pump station, and backwash treatment facilities, but sturdy walking shoes are recommended as this is an active construction operation.
