HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - January 8, 1924 (3)40 City Hall, City of Lodi Tuesday, January 8-1924 Pursuant to adjournment taken by resolution from the reg- ular meeting of January 7th., the Board of Trustees of the City of Lodi met in adjourned regular session at 8 o'clock P.M. on the date and at the place first above written; President J. WO - Shattuck presiding: Trustees Hale, Hickok, Mettler, and Shattuck vresent, Trustee Spooner absent, The minutes of the regular meeting of January 7th were read and approved. - In the matter of the improvement of Central Avenue, Garfield and Harold Streets as undertaken under and in pursuance with Res- olution of Intention No. 67: It appearing that advertisement for sealed proposals for the work, setting the date for reception of same at 8 o'clock P.M. of January 8th., had been published and posted as required by law and also that the meeting set for the foregoing date had been reg- ularly adjourned to this day and hour, the Board proceeded to publicly open and canvass the bids received, said bids being as fo 1lows: - Name of Bidder Grading Paving Gutters Curbs �'unici pal 1 vt.80. $0.035 0.195 $0.28 $0.48 McGillivray Con.Co. $0.025 0.1875 $0,28 $0.50 Clark & Henery Con.Co.$0.02 $0.185 $0.25 $0.48 Prices bid are per square foot excepting on curbs which are quoted at price per running foot; It being evident that Clark & Henery Construction Company was the lowest responsible bidder; this contract was marded them by the passage of Resolution of Award No. 440 by the following vote: - AYES: Trustees, Hale, Hickok,llettler,Shattuck; NOFS: Trustees, None. ABSENT: Trustee, Spooner (Note) A copy of said Resolution of Award is filed in the office of the City Clerk with other matters -in con- nection with work undertakem under Resolution of Intention No. 67 as passed Nov.26-1923. f Ulerk. vtilliam S. Reese and J.R.Scott apnered before the Board and asked that the proposed pavement on Central Avenue be extended to Poplar Avenue. This matter was taken under advisement. The sane gentlemen also asked for temporary repairs to Central Avenue near Vine Street. 4} Ur George J. Adhley, representing a cormittee from the Lodi District Chamber of Corserce &:dressed the Board on the necessity of securing a site for an auto -camp -ground, advoc- ating the selection of the Sanguinetti grove on the Yoquel- umne River and asking the Board to seta date convenient for viewing the various sites under consideration. The Board prom- ised LIr Ashley to advise Ur 7.E.Spears, Secretary of the Cham- ber,as to a date when it would be possible for them to do so. Reports from the City Karshal and Plumb -ng inspector were read and ordered filed. A cor.=unicatior.was received from the City Planning Com- mission advising the Board that the terms of office of Com- missioners Hale, Thompson and Le Feber had expired on the lst instant. The aopointment of their successors was deferred to a later date. The Clerk read a commication from Consulting -Engineer f Clyde F. Smith setting forth his reasons for desiring to dev- ote more than two days per month to the sewage disposal plant during the months of January and February. No action taken. On moticn of Trustee Lettler, the resident attendant at the sewage disposal plant Was allowed $2.50 per month for electricity; he to pay at the regular City rate on meter read- ings taken monthly. On motion of Trustee'ettler, audited bills amounting to -$11,934.45 were allowed and ordered paid.
