HomeMy WebLinkAboutAgenda Report - March 18, 1998 (74)AGENDA TITLE: Acceptance of Improvements Under Contract for Central City Revitalization Improvement Project, Downtown MEETING DATE: March 18, 1998 PREPARED BY: Public Works Director RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council accept the improvements under the "Central City Revitalization Improvement Project, Downtown" contract and direct the City Engineer to file a Notice of Completion with the County Recorder's office. BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The project was awarded to Diede Construction, of Woodbridge, on February 5, 1997, in the amount of $4,114,160.48. The contract has been completed in substantial conformance with the plans and specifications approved by the City Council. The final contract amount is $4,350,567.35. Two additional minor work items are being negotiated with Diede Construction and will be handled outside the construction contract. The difference between the contract amount and the final contract price is due to higher quantities of some bid items actually installed and contract change orders which have been reviewed by Council at previous meetings. FUNDING: This projected is appropriated with the Cherokee Lane Project; the total appropriation for both projects will need to be increased approximately 2 1/2% to cover cost increases. A final accounting and recommendation for appropriation of additional funds will be made at the acceptance of the Cherokee Lane Project. The additional funds are due to street and utility work and will not affect the General Fund. Pu d 4pw,*) Richard C. Prima, Jr. Public Works Director Prepared by Wesley K.
