RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council adopt the attached resolution awarding the contract for the above
project to A. M. Stephens Construction Company, of Lodi, in the amount of $80,628.50
and appropriate funds in accordance with the recommendation shown below.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: This project is a portion of the master plan for the southeast section of Lodi Lake. It
will install handicap -accessible playground equipment, sidewalks, retaining walls,
shade structures, and picnic facilities. The Parks and Recreation Department will
remove the existing playground structures prior to construction and replant the area
after the contractor has completed this project.
Plans and specifications for this project were approved on August 20, 1997. The City received the following ten bids for
this project:

A RESOLUTION OF THE LODI CITY COUNCIL AWARDING
THE CONTRACT FOR LODI LAKE SOUTH PLAYGROUND
IMPROVEMENTS, 1101 WEST TURNER ROAD

WHEREAS, in answer to notice duly published in accordance with law and the
order of this City Council, sealed bids were received and publicly opened on February 18,
1998 at 2:00 p.m. for Lodi Lake South Playground Improvements, 1101 West Turner
Road, described in the specifications therefore approved by the City Council on August
20, 1997; and
WHEREAS, said bids have been compared, checked, and tabulated and a report
thereof filed with the City Manager as follows:

WHEREAS, the City Manager recommends award of the bid for Lodi Lake South
Playground Improvements, 1101 West Turner Road be made to the low bidder, A. M.
Stephens Construction Company, of Lodi, CA; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Lodi City Council that the award of
the bid for Lodi Lake South Playground Improvements, 1101 West Turner Road, be and
the same is hereby awarded to A. M. Stephens Construction Company, of Lodi, CA, the
low bidder, in the amount of $80,628.50.
