AGENDA TITLE: SET A PUBLIC HEARING FOR MARCH 18, 1998, TO CONSIDER AND
APPROVE COMMUNITY INPUT AND PROPOSALS FOR USES OF THE
CITY'S 1998-99 FEDERAL ALLOCATION OF COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
BLOCK GRANT (CDBG) AND HOME FUNDS.
MEETING DATE: March 4, 1998

RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council set a public hearing for March 18, 1998, to
consider and approve potential uses of Federal funds received through
the CDBG and HOME programs for the 1998-99 fiscal year.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The City anticipates receiving approximately $730,000 in CDBG
funds and approximately $201,000 in HOME funds from the Federal
government for the coming fiscal year. The CDBG funds can be
used for a wide range of community development projects as long as
they meet one of the National objectives. The objectives are: 1) To address the needs of low to moderate
income persons 2) To eliminate slum or blighted conditions 3) To resolve an urgent need. The HOME
funds are reserved for housing and housing related activities such as rehabilitation and new construction.
Activities undertaken with HOME funds must also meet the needs of low to moderated income persons.
FUNDING: Federal Community Development Block Grant funds and HOME funds.

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on Wednesday, March 18, 1998 at the hour of 7:00 p.m., or as soon
thereafter as the matter may be heard, the City Council will conduct a Public Hearing to consider the
following matter:
a) Consider and Approve Community Input and Proposals for Uses of the City's 1998-99
Federal Allocation of Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and Home Funds
Information regarding this item may be obtained in the office of the Community Development Department
Director, 221 West Pine Street, Lodi, California. All interested persons are invited to present their views and
comments on this matter. Written statements may be filed with the City Clerk at any time prior to the hearing
scheduled herein, and oral statements may be made at said hearing.
If you challenge the subject matter in court, you may be limited to raising only those issues you or someone
else raised at the Public Hearing described in this notice or in written correspondence delivered to the City
Clerk, 221 West Pine Street, at or prior to the Public Hearing.

United States mail, envelopes with first-class postage prepaid thereon, containing a
copy of the Notice attached hereto, marked Exhibit "A"; said envelopes were addressed
as is more particularly shown on Exhibit "B" attached hereto.
There is a regular daily communication by mail between the City of Lodi, California, and
the places to which said envelopes were addressed.
