CITY OF LODI COUNCIL COMMUNICATION
AGENDA TITLE: Presentation by the Greater Lodi Area Youth Commission
Regarding Honoring Teens program.
MEETING DATE: February 18,1998

RECOMMENDED ACTION: Presentation.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The Greater Lodi Area Youth Commission, in
conjunction with the Lodi Sunrise Rotary Club and Christopher J. Olsen, American
Express Financial Advisors, is sponsoring a program entitled Honoring Teens. The Lodi
Youth Commission Leadership Committee selects one teen to be awarded Teen of the
Month from the applications submitted to the commission from the general public,
various schools, and church groups. This month's Teen of the Month is Amina Shah
from Delta College.
In addition, this month we will reward an honorary mention Teen of the Month Susan
Revillar from Bear Creek High.

February Teen of the Month
Amina Shah is 18 year of age student at Delta College and resides in Lodi. Amina has
consistanly given her time and effort to help grade school children. She has developed a
group for grade school children grades 5 and 6 and plans outings for them She has
developed and led small groups for grade school girls and volunteered to work in the
child care center once a month at Delta College. She recruited and led a clown group for
our summer program. Amina has repeatedly worked to help others with a real
selflessness.
February Honorary Teen on the Month
Susan Revillar is 17 years of age and attends Bear Creek High School and resides in
Stockton. Susan has participated in Student Activities class, Key Club, and the Filipino
Club. Currently, Susan has a rigorous academic schedule and is employed part-time.
Last summer, she represented Bear Creek High School at Camp Royal and at the
Congressional Youth Leadership Conference.
