SPECIAL CITY COUNCIL MEETING
CARNEGIE FORUM, 305 WEST PINE STREET
TUESDAY, AUGUST 28, 2001
A. CALL TO ORDER / ROLL CALL
The Special City Council meeting of August 28, 2001 was called to order by Mayor Nakanishi at
7:05 a.m.
Present: Council Members — Hitchcock, Howard, Land, Pennino and Mayor Nakanishi
Absent: Council Members — None
Also Present: City Manager Flynn, Deputy City Attorney Schwabauer, and City Clerk Blackston
B. REGULAR CALENDAR
B-1 "Authorize the City Manager to provide San Joaquin County Council of Governments with
a letter of support for its proposal to host a League of California Cities Grassroots
Coordinator in its Stockton office"
City Manager Flynn reported that a recommendation has been received from the Council
of Governments (COG) San Joaquin County City Manager's group, as well as the COG
for Stanislaus County, to house the League of California Cities Grassroots Coordinator in
the COG Stockton office. He asked council for authorization to send a letter of support to
COG for this recommendation
MOTION/ VOTE:
The City Council, on motion of Mayor Pro Tempore Pennino, Hitchcock second,
unanimously authorized the City Manager to provide the San Joaquin County Council of
Governments with a letter of support for COG's proposal to host a League of California
Cities Grassroots Coordinator in its Stockton office.
C. COMMENTS BY THE PUBLIC ON NON -AGENDA ITEMS
None.
SHIRTSLEEVE SESSION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
At 7:09 a.m., Mayor Nakanishi adjourned the Special meeting of the City Council to a Shirtsleeve
Session (NOTE: refer to the Shirtsleeve Session minutes of August 28, 2001).
D. CLOSED SESSION
At 8:32 a.m., Mayor Nakanishi reconvened the Special meeting, and adjourned the meeting to a
Closed Session to discuss the following matter.
D-1 Actual litigation: Government Code §54956.9(a); one case; Citizens for a Quiet Kofu Park
vs. City of Lodi, San Joaquin County Superior Court Case No. CV 014871
E. RETURN TO OPEN SESSION t DISCLOSURE OF ACTION
At 9:00 a.m., Mayor Nakanishi reconvened the Special meeting, and Deputy City Attorney
Schwabauer disclosed the following action.
In regard to item D-1, the City Council approved the staff recommendation to move forward with
the skate park project as scheduled.
Continued August 28, 2001
ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business to come before the City Council, the meeting was adjourned at
9:00 a.m.
