The Board of Trustees of the City Lodi convened in regular session, the following
Trustees being present: F. O. Hale, C. A. Rich, and L. Villinger.
Absent: J. M. Blodgett and G. E. Lawrence
The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
Hoag and Fuller were granted a permit to erect a parsonage for the M. E. Church.
Petitions for St. Lights at the corner of Church and Oak St., Lee Ave. and Oak,
Sacramento and Locust, Pine and Pleasant, were read and on motions regularly made
seconded and carried, 32. c.p. lights were ordered placed at each of the above places.
The resignation of Rev. W. P. Grant as a member of the Board of Library Trustees was
read and upon motion duly carried the same was accepted.
The following report from the Committee of the Whole was read and laid on the table for
two weeks:
In the matter of the application of Russill Bros. for a saloon license, the Board of Trustees
of the City of Lodi, Sitting as a committee of the Whole, report as follows:
The present Board of Trustees by Ordinance fixed the number of saloon licenses to be
granted in the City at four for the first 2500 inhabitants and one for each additional five
hundred.
This Board has no official information at this time of the actual number of inhabitants in
the City of Lodi.
In view of this fact and of the fact the Thirteenth United States Census will be taken in
the month of April next. It is the sense of this Board that no action on Saloon
applications be taken until after such census is taken.
This board is also mindful of the fact that its official life ends in about three months,
when a general election will be held at which time the electors of this City may see fit to
dictate the future policy of the City on the saloon question.
Respectfully Submitted,
C. E. Lawrence, Leon Villinger, F. O. Hale, and C. A. Rich
It was moved, seconded and carried that this Board do now adjourn to reconvene on
Monday, Dec. 27, 1909. So ordered.
Attest: C. M. Blodgett
City Clerk
