The Board of Trustees of the City of Lodi convened in regular session, President G. E.
Lawrence presiding and the following other members of the Board being present: J. M.
Blodgett, f O. Hale, L. Villinger and C. A. Rich.
The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
A petition from the Chairman of Eagles' Carnival Committee, W. C. Brown, asking
permission to conduct a carnival to construct the necessary temporary structures and to
do such other acts as may be reasonable and in conformity with the law and ordinances of
the City of Lodi was read and on motion, the request was granted.
The application of L. B. Cogswell for permission to remodel the barn on Lot 1 of Block
12 and convert it to a dwelling, was read and granted.
The application of J. W. Dougherty to erect an extension to the Hotel Balcony was read
and refused for the following reasons: it does not appear how said balcony is to be
supported, if it be supported by posts, said posts be an obstruction contrary to ordinance.
City Tax Collector, H. B. Coleman asked if Board would give him help in making out the
Tax Receipts. The board appeared to be unanimous in granting the request.
A communication from the Board of Health recommending the appointment of Dr. T. W.
Colman as Health Officer was read. The letter also called the attention of the swill cans
in the alleys.
It was moved, seconded and carried that this Board do now adjourn to meet on Monday,
evening, Sept. 28, 1908.
