The Board of Trustees of the City of Lodi convened in regular session, President Geo. E.
Lawrence presiding and the following other Trustees being present: J. M. Blodgett, C. A.
Rich, and Leon Villinger.
The minutes of the meeting of July 13, 1908 were read and approved.
The following Applications for Building Permits were read and granted:
Kroll, Gottfried, Dwelling Cor. Locust & Garfield
Scoggins, D. F., Barn on Lot 9, of Block 3, E. Lodi
Valley Fruit Co., Store house back of #35 N. Sac. St.
Leple, Antone, Dwelling E. Locust Street
McDaniel, Wm. S. Tank house on Lodi Ave.
The application of Beckman Welsh for permission to construct a barn at the North end of
School St. was read and with the consent of the applicant was laid on the table.
Fire Chief Welch reported that the fire hydrant at the Corner of Main & Oak was not in
good order, and the Clerk was instructed to notify the Water Co.
Resolution No. 19
The following resolution was then read and introduced;
Whereas it has been brought to the attention of the Board of Trustees of the City of Lodi,
that the Resolution heretofore passed on the 29th day of July, 1907 does not pledge the
City to supply the required amount of money for the maintenance of the proposed
Carnegie Library, and,
Whereas the uncompleted assessment for 1908 shows a valuation of $975,000
Now therefore be it resolved that we, the Trustees of the City of Lodi, do hereby pledge
ourselves to provide a tax levy of One Million each one dollar of valuation, or such sum
as will provide the sum of nine hundred dollars annually for the support of such Library.
The foregoing resolution was passed and adopted in regular session of the Board of
Trustees of the City of Lodi this 2e day of July, 1908 by the following vote:
Ayes: J. M. Blodgett, G. E. Lawrence, C. A. Rich and L. Villinger.
Noes: None
Absent: F. O. Hale

No further business coming before the Board, it was moved, seconded and carried that
