HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - April 27, 1908Public Hall, Lodi, California, Apr. 27, 1908 The board of Trustees of the City of Lodi convened in adjourned regular session pursuant to adjournment of April 20, 1908, President Geo. E. Lawrence presiding and the following other members of the board being present: J. M. Blodgett, F. 0. Hale, C. A. Rich and Leon Villinger. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved as read. The following Applications for Building Permit ere read and granted: Church of God, Tents for Camp Meeting on block 32 G. A. Clare, Dwelling on Moran Tract F. J. Bowman, Add. to Dwg. Hutchins Addition; J. M. Appleton, Barn on E. Pine St. The Bond of H. B. Coleman, as Marshal, in the sum of two thousand dollars, with W. F. Keeney, S. A. Shim, Gottleid Doering, and J. A. Graham as sureties each in the sum of one thousand dollars, with J. B. Cory and 0. 0. Norton as sureties, each in the sum of six thousand dollars; the bond of J. M.. McMahon ;as Clerk in the sum of one thousand dollars, with Adolph Bauer and Charles Gaggols as sureties, each in the sum of one thousand dollars, were read and approved and ordered filed. S. S. Murphy, Chairman of the Finance Committee of the Temperance People tu5rned over to the City Clerk the sum of $50m to pay the expense of the Temperance Election. Rev. F. M. Washburn suggested that the election be held as soon as possible, and upon the invitation of the President of the Board suggested that W. A. Moorehead and C. L. Van Bustkirk be members of the Board of Election. It was then suggested that the liquor interests be allowed to suggest two members. Mr. Dougherty suggested that he was willing to take his chances on the Board making satisfactory adjustments. Mr. Daugherty complained about being forbidden to dump sewage either inside the City or outside. Mr. D. A. Wilson complained of the Traction Co. unloading freight in front of his residence. Dr. J. P. Hull, County Health office, was present and addressed the Board on the matter of quarantining, etc. It was moved, seconded, and carried that the compensation of Election officers be fixed at $5 per day. 127 Rev. W. P. Grant was present and upon a question from the President, he said that the members of the old Library Board would be glad to accept reappointment excepting Mrs. J. Del Valle, who had moved away. He also wished that the Board might appropriate $50 from the amount appropriated for the expenses of the Library to a fund to purchase a lot. The Com. on Inspection of Public Bldg was granted for the time. Matter of a public meeting was discussed and it appeared to be the general sentiment to old it on Thursday evening.
