HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - December 16, 1907Public Hall, Lodi, California, Dec. 16, 1907 The Board of Trustees of the City of Lodi convened in regular session, the following Trustees being present: J. M. Blodgett, F. 0. Hale, & C. A. Rich. Absent: G. E. Lawrence and L. Villinger. C. A Rich was elected President Pro -Tem. The minutes of the meeting of Dec.2, 1907 were read and approved. Communication of Pearl E. Hawkins, Secretary of the Woman's Improvement Club asking the Board to enforce the ordinance against expectorating on the sidewalks, was read and on motion regularly made seconded and carried. The Clerk was instructed to make a suitable reply stating that there is an ordinance upon this question and calling attention to the fact that it is the duty of any person witnessing a violation of the law to go before the proper officers and swear out a complaint. The following applications for building Permits were read and granted. Ford Lange A. J. Larson Rebecca J. Ivory 2 dwellings A two story wash house A wood shed A communication from the Board of Health requesting the passage of an ordinance prohibiting the distribution of samples of patent medicines was read and filed. A communication from the same Board urging immediate action in regard to sewage read and filed. The Rev. W. P. Grant, & Dr. E. G. Williams and Mrs. J. DelValle appeared before the Board and stated that the Library Board would be able to make a full report upon the affairs of the Library at the first meeting of the Board in January. It was moved and seconded and carried that the City Clerk be instructed to order one - Twentieth Century Grader on approval. Moved, seconded and carried that the Supt. of Streets be authorized and empowered to purchase at the expense of the City such tools and machinery as my in his judgment be necessary for properly working the streets. The Clerk was instructed to write to the Warden of Folsom regarding crushed rock. It was then moved, seconded and carried that the Board do now adjourn to reconvene on Friday evening, Dec. 20,1907.
