HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - October 7, 1907Public Hall, Lodi, California, Oct. 7, 1907 The board of Trustees of the City of Lodi convened in the regular session, President G. E. Lawrence presiding and the following Trustees being present: J. M. Blodgett, F. O. Hale, C.a. Rich and L. Villinger. The minutes of the meeting of Sept. 30, 1907 read and approved as read. The Communication of the Engineering Record soliciting advertising read and filed. A Communication from Dr. Kilmer asking for information as to the City Ordinances in respect to the distribution of Samples of merchandise or literature read and the Clerk instructed to make reply. A communication from Warren Booker asking for plans of Sewage work read and the Clerk instructed to inform the gentleman that our plans were not completed. A communication from Merit & Co. in respect to contrivance for deriding Sewage read, a reply directed to be made. A communication from the River Improvement and Drainage Association read and referred to the board of Trade. Communication of the Studebaker Bros. read and filed. The following applications for Building Permits were read and granted: A. G. Carson, to repair & Improve Dwelling at 109 S. School St. Mrs. A. Westfall, to construct Dwelling on Lot 5 of Block 12. L. Derheim, To construct dwelling on Lot 6, 7, & 8 of Block 12. 0.0.Osborne, To construct dwelling on lot 21 less. Add. C. L. Van Buskirk, To construct dwelling on lot 4 of Block 9 Henry Bender, to construct a dwelling on Lot 3 of Block 10; Henry Bender to remove bldg. from Lot 3 of Block 10 to Barnhart Tract. The application of Henry Bender for permission to cut down on 2 trees on Elm St. in order to move building from Lot 3 Block 10 was read and referred to the Marshal. The following reports were read and approved: City Marshal for the Month of September, 1907 City Pound Master for the month of September, 1907. City Treasurer for the Quarter Ending June 30, to City Clerk for the Quarter Ending September 30, 1907. The following claims against the City were read and on motions regularly made, seconded and carried the same were allowed and ordered paid: 84 Brannack, H. Nay, J. K. Coleman, H. B. McMahon, J. M. O. Hale and C. A. Rich. The claim of Studebaker Bros. for water wagon was placed on file. The question of lighting the Mission Arch was advanced by President Lawrence and discussed at some length; without definite action being taken. The Clerk was instructed to call the attention of the Central California Fraction Company to the unsafe condition of the crossing of their tracks at School Street and to request that said company take immediate steps to remedy the existing condition. W. W. Henderson, Treasurer of the Tokay Carnival Committee, appeared before the Board and made application for a rebate of the licenses collected on concessions during the Carnival, and good cause being shown why such rebate should be granted, and it appearing to the Board that it was to the best interests of all parties concerned that such rebate be granted. It was then resolved that the said amount of said Licenses, viz.: $174 be and the same is hereby rebated to said Carnival Committee. It was then regularly moved, seconded and carried that a warrant for the above amount be drawn in favor of the Treasurer of the Tokay Carnival Committee. So ordered. It was then moved, seconded and carried that the Board adjourn to reconvene on Friday, Oct.11, 1907 so ordered. Attest: J. M. McMahon City Clerk. 85
