HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - September 16, 1907Public Hall, Lodi, California, Sep. 16, 1907 The Board of Trustees of the City of Lodi convened in regular session, President G. E. Lawrence presiding and the following Trustees being present: J. M. Blodgett, F. 0. Hale, C. A. Rich And L. Villinger. The Minutes of the meeting of Sep. 10, 1907, read and approved as read. The following application J. Helsy Holmes, Bernard Drake, McDonald & Ash Earl Ganoe Fay Cook Woolsey W. Hitchock Moore J. D. Cline, Kennedy & Bliss E. F. Thomas Pott & Owen Wm. Lupton Jack DeRites Wright Branscon for Licenses were read and approved: Photo Gallery Show Show Show Dolls Rack Knife Rack Doll Show Bull Throwing Arrow Shooting Show Arrow Shooting Knife Rack Show Selling Souvenirs Hand Stick Novelty Show Exhibition $6 9 9 9 3 3 3 3 3 9 3 3 9 3 3 9 9 $96 Application of C. L. Van Buskirk for a Permit to erect a building on Lot 15 of Block 15 was read and granted. Application of W. H. Cotts for a Bldg. Permit read and granted. Request made by Geo. Long for permission to run a Novelty Shooting Gallery and African Dodge Show was discussed and Mr. Long advised to run a Lunch Counter. Jas. Fitzpartick asked for a free permit to sell seashells. The applicant being a Civil War Veteran, the Board by Resolution granted his request Chief Hilliard E. Welch of the Fire Department asked if the Board had any suggestions to make; none offered. The Committee appointed to consult with Cary Bros. reported that it would be impossible for Mr. Cary to have the fireplugs painted before the Carnival and that he had no castings 79 to raise the two plugs. Cary Bros. would keep fires banked and a man constantly on duty at the Water Works, the Board to pay for the extra service. Ordinance No 31, Entitled," An Ordinance Amending Section Three of Ordinance No. Two, Ordinance of the City of Lodi," having been introduced, read and laid on the table on Sep 10, 1907, was read and placed on passage. It was moved by J. M. Blodgett, seconded by L. Villinger that Ordinance No. 31 be adopted as read The motion was carried by the following vote: Ayes: J. M. Blodgett, L. Villinger, C.A. Rich, and F. 0 Hale. Noes: None So Ordered J. H. Nay was granted a Permit to improve his dwelling. The Marshal was instructed to give him two night watchmen at the expense of the City. No further business coming before the Board, the Board then on motion regularly made, seconded and carried, adjourned to reconvened on Wednesday evening Sep. 18, 1907. Attest: J. M.
