The board of Trustees of the City of Lodi convened in adjourned regular session,
President Lawrence presiding and the following Trustees being present: J. M. Blodgett, J.
O Hale, C. A. Rich, & L. Villinger.
The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved as read.
The following applications for Building Permits were then read and on motions regularly
made, seconded and carried the same were granted: The Northern Hardware Co., Cement
Stone Dwg.in E. Lodi Add. Joe Downew Addition to Frame Dwg. 319 S. Sac.St.
The application of H, N. Madison for permission to erect a frame bldg. 12 ft. X 12R. back
of his store on South Sac. St. was read and on motion regularly made, seconded, &
carried, the permit was refused for the following reasons: The proposed building is of
inflammable material, and it is against the policy of this Board to allow any building of
inflammable material to be constructed within the business blocks fronting on
Sacramento Street.
Application of W. W. Carnes for permission to maintain a stand for the sale of novelties,
etc. during the Carnival was laid on the table and referred to the Carnival Committee.
Ordinance No 28, Entitled, "An Ordinance requiring certain persons to clear the sidewalk
spaces of weeds and rubbish," was introduced and read, and on motion regularly made,
seconded and carried the Ordinance was laid on the table for not less than five days
exclusive of the day of introduction.
Ordinance No. 29 Entitled, "An ordinance levying property taxes of the City of Lodi for
the fiscal year of said city, beginning July 1, 1908," was introduced and read, and on
motion regularly made, seconded, and carried, the Ordinance was laid on the table for not
less than five days exclusive of the day of introduction.
A communication from E. I. Jones explaining the rights of the Board in regard to the
abandonment of any street was read and placed on file.
No further business coming before the Board, the Board then adjourned.
