HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - August 5, 1907Public Hall, Lodi, California, Aug. 5,1907 The Board of Trustees of the City of Lodi convened in regular session, President Lawrence presiding and the following Trustees being present: Boldgett, Hale, Rich, & Villinger The minutes of the previous meeting was read and approved as read. Mrs. J. Harry Lillie asked for information regarding the renting of rooms in private families. She was informed that the matter would be taken up later in the session and that the Clerk would inform her of the action of the Board. Petition of T. C. Dooley of the United Harness Co. for permission to erect a hitching rack in from of their store at No. 9 E. Elm St. was read and on motion regularly made, seconded and carried, the permit was granted. Petition of J. S. Magginnes for a permit to erect a building on Lot 9 of Block 2 read and on motion regularly made, seconded and carried, the permit was granted. Petition of G. Peirano to erect a building of cement bloc on the lot back of No.35 N. Sacramento St. read and on motion regularly made, seconded and carried, the Permit was granted. Report of the City Marshal for the month of July was read and approved. " " " #397 83.35 Total Claims allowed 614.25 The claims of Lodi Herald, Henderson bros. and Beckman, Welch, & Thompson Co. Were referred to the Clerk, and the claim of the Lodi Sentinel was referred to the Marshal. Mr. J. A. Graham made an estimate that the cost of filling the depression at the Planing Mill would be $60.10; and the Street Supt. was instructed to have the work done if he could get it done for that sum. Street Supt. stated that he had been requested to remove dirt from the sites of the Northern Hardware Building and the New Church; and the St.Supt. was instructed to move such dirt as he could fill such places as in his judgment needed filling. It was regularly moved, seconded, and carried that we get legal advice as to whether or not we can abandon any street. The clerk was instructed by a vote of four ayes and one no, to notify Mrs. J. Harry Lillie that all Lodging Houses should be licensed. Ordinance No. 27, Entitled, "An Ordinance Requiring the Closing at Certain Times of Saloons and of Selling, Dispensing or Dealing in Spirituous, Various Malt or Intoxicating Liquor; Prohibiting at Such Times and Places the Sale, Gift, or Dispensation of, or Dealing in Such Liquor; and Prescribing Penalties for Violation of the Ordinance," having been read and introduced on July 29, 1907 was read and placed on passage. It was then regularly moved, seconded, and carried that Ordinance No. 27 be adopted as read. The motion was carried by the following vote: Ayes; G. E. Lawrence, L. Villinger, J. M. Blodgett, F. O. Hale, and C. A. Rich. Noes; None Absent; None So Ordered. No further business coming before the Board, the board then on motion regularly made , seconded and carried, adjourned. Attest: A. J.
