HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - July 15, 1907Public Hall, Lodi, California July 15, 1907 The Board of Trustees of the City of Lodi convened in regular session, President Lawrence presiding and the following Trustees being present: Blodgett, Hale, and Rich. Absent; Villinger The Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved as read. Mr. J. Harry Lilly; local Manager of the Pacific Telephone and Telegraph Co. was present. Rev. F. M. Washburn addressed the Board conveying the appreciation and thanks of the entire congregation of the Congregational Church to the Board of Trustees for their thorough going ordinance eliminating the gambling evil. The Claim of J. W. Dougherty of $102 for Street Sprinkling for May and June, having been ordered to be $94 was on motion regularly made, seconded and carried, allowed and ordered paid. The Claim of Cary Bros. for $135.45 for Water and Lights for the quarter ending June 30, having been reduced to $128.45 was on motion regularly made, seconded and carried, allowed and ordered paid. The matter of the City Plat Book was, on motion, regularly made, seconded and carried, referred to the City Assessor. The resignation of G. M. Steele as City Recorder, having been laid on the table at the last regular meeting, was taken up and on motion regularly made, seconded and carried, said resignation was accepted to take effect as soon as his successor could be elected and qualified. The name of E. E. Breitenbucher was duly appointed City Recorder in and for the City of Lodi for the unexpired term of G. M. Steele resigned, by the following vote: Ayes; Blodgett, Rich and Hale. Noes; None. Absent; Villinger. It was then regularly moved, seconded and carried that the question of an official map be referred to the Board as Committee of the Whole. An application from R. M. Combe, asking for a permit and license to conduct a saloon now conducted by C.D. and J. W. Russell at 7 S. Sacramento St. was read and carried. The permit was granted and the Clerk ordered to issue the necessary license. No further business coming before the Board, the Board than on motion regularly made, seconded and carried, adjourned to reconvene on July 22,1907 Attest: J. M. McMahon City Clerk. 67
