The Board of Trustees of the City of Lodi convened in adjourned regular session pursuant to adjournment of June 17, 1907, President Lawrence presiding and the following Trustees being present: Blodgett, Hale, Rich an Villinger. Minutes of previous meeting read and approved as read. Communication from A. J. Weinert, Secy. Of Fire Department, apprising the Board of the fact that the Fire Department had elected Hilliard E. Welch Chief, read and on motion regularly made and seconded, the election of Hilliard E. Welch as Chief of the Lodi Fire Department was approved by an unanimous vote. Rev. W. Plyrant and others then spoke on the question of a Carnegie Library. The matter of a Carnegie Library was laid on the table till July 1, 1907. It was regularly moved by Hale, seconded by Blodgett that a Committee of three be appointed to meet with the Library Board on June 25. Carried and the following Committee was then appointed: Hale, Villinger, and Blodgett. Mr. H. L. Clark, Sr. Librarian then addressed the Board. Rev. F. M. Washburn asked permission to erect a frame barn 12 X 18 — 12 ft. high on the lot back of the Cong. Church. Permission was granted. It was then moved by Blodgett, seconded by Rich that the Tokay Carnival Committee be granted permission to maintain a voting box not to exceed 2 ft. square on the outer edge of the sidewalk in front of Ross' Candy Parlor, for the purpose of voting for Queen Zinfandel. Said permit to run to Sept. 9, 1907. Carried and Board read. Mr. F. C. Ross asked the Board for a permit to carry a stock of fire works. On motion regularly made, seconded and carried, F. C. Ross was granted a permit to carry for sale a stock of Fire works of not to exceed 200#: said permit to run for twenty days from the 18th of June 1907. Mr. G. Graham reported having completed his work of establishing a street grade and offered a grade map and profile maps of the City of Lodi. The matter was laid on the table till July 1, 1907. Chief Hilliard E. Welch of the Fire Department thanked the board for their approval and expressed his wish to work in harmony with the board of Trustees. Ordinance No. 26, entitle "An Ordinance Prohibiting Gambling Games and Presence There at by Imposing Penalties in Relation to the Same," was read and introduced and on 63 motion regularly laid on the table for a period of no to less than five days exclusion of the day of introduction. So ordered. Matter of regulating Saloons was discussed and referred to the Committee of the Whole. No further business coming before the Board, the Board than on motion regularly made, seconded and carried adjourned. J. M. McMahon City Clerk 64
