HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - June 3, 1907Public Hall, Lodi, California, June 3, 1907 The Board of Trustees of the City of Lodi convened in regular session, the following member being present: Blodgett, Hale, Rich, and Villinger On motion regularly made, motioned and carried, Trustee F. O. Hale was unanimously elected president pro -tem. Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved as read. Mr. J. Harry Lillie, local manager of the Pacific Telephone and Telegraph Co. was in attendance. Petition of F. G. Cary for a permit to erect a frame building 26 X 52 on lot 3 of Block. 28 read and on motion regularly made, seconded and carried the permit was granted and ordered. Petition of Warren Loomis for permission to maintain a boot black stand on Pine St. read and on motion regularly made, seconded and carried, it was ordered that Warren Loomis be granted a permit to maintain a boot black stand as at present located on Pine St. Said permit to run during the pleasure f the Board. The following Communication was then read and on motion regularly made, seconded and carried the same was read to be entered upon the minutes of this Board. Office of the Board of Police and Fire commissioners Stockton, Cal. May 6. 1907 Gentlemen: At a meeting of the Board of Police and Fire Commissioners of the City of Stockton held on the evening of the 2'1 dist. The resolution adopted by your Honorable Body thanking the Mayor and the City for the offer of assistance when your city was threatened by fire was read. Upon unanimous vote of the Commission of the Secretary was instructed to inform you that he City of Stockton will always be ready to lend its assistance to its Sister City of Lodi whenever it is needed. While we hope misfortune may never make it necessary for you to call upon us, yet, if such an emergency should arise, Stockton would be willing to do all in its power to alleviate matters. As Far as expense incurred, I have been instructed to say there is none. We extend to your young and prosperous city the best of wishes. Respectfully yours, Dave S. Matthews Sec. Reports of the City Marshal and Pound master for the month of May read and approved. 59 The following claims against the City of Lodi were read and on motion regularly made, seconded and carried the same was allowed and ordered paid: F. Water Trough 10.85 194.10 Chairman Villinger of the Committee on Water for the Park reported that the flat rate of 1/2 cent per sq. yd. per month applied to the time when water was used. He also reported that water was turned on Saturday June 1 and that especially before June 3. On motion regularly made, seconded and carried the report was accepted and the committee discharges. Committee on Street sprinkling reported having made arrangements with J. W Dougherty whereby he was to furnish everything and sprinkle nine hours per day at the rate of $4 per day. Committee on Fire Hydrant was given further time. Ordinance No. 25 entitled " An Ordinance Providing a System for the Assessment, Levy and Collection of Taxes by and for the City of Lodi," was read and introduced, and on motion regularly made, seconded and carried, the ordinance was laid on the table for not less than five days exclusive of the day of introduction. No further business coming before the Board, the Board then on motion regularly made, seconded and carried, adjourned to reconvene on Monday evening, June 10 1907. J. M. McMahon, City Clerk 60
