HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - May 20, 1907Public Hall, Lodi, California, May 20, 1907 The Board of Trustees of the City of Lodi convened in regular session, President Lawrence presiding and the following trustees being present: Blodgett, Hale, Rich & Villinger Minutes of the previous meeting read and approved. Communication of W. A. Young asking for the placing of a fireplug at the Cor. Of Elm and Cherokee St. Read and placed on file. Communication of Clary Safe Co. proposing to furnish the City a safe, read and placed on file. Report of the Committee on water for the park area reported that the Water Company would furnish water for the park at 15 cents per in. gallons per mo. Moved by J. M. Blodgett seconded by Trustee F. O. Hale that the matter of water be left to a committee of three. Motion carried. So ordered. Committee on Tax matter reported that the Tax Ordinance was in process of formulation and might be ready at our next meeting. Ordinance No. 22, having been read and introduced on May 6 was read and motion regularly made, seconded and carried, the same was laid on the table. Ordinance No. 23 Entitled "An Ordinance providing for the Employment of an Attorney," having been read and introduced on May 6, was read and placed on passage. It was then regularly moved by J. M. Blodgett, & seconded by C.A. Rich that Ordinance No. 23 be adopted as read. Carried by the following vote: Ayes; Blodgett, Rich, Hale and Villinger. Noes: None. Ordinance No. 24, entitled "An Ordinance Making it a Misdemeanor to Spit or Expectorate on the Sidewalks and Upon the Floors and Walls and Stairs of Public Buildings within the City of Lodi," having been read and introduced on May 6, 1907, was read and placed on passage. It was then moved by C. A. Rich, and seconded by L. Villinger that Ordinance No.24 be adopted as read. Carried by the following vote: Ayes; Rich, Villinger, Hale, and Blodgett. Noes; None. Claim of J. K. Nay for Services for March having been read and laid on the table on May 6, was taken up and on motion regularly made, seconded and carried, the claim was allowed and ordered paid. 55 Moved by C. A. Rich, seconded by M. Blodgett, that a Committee of three be appointed to consider the matter of a fireplug at the corner of Elm and Cherokee St. Carried and so ordered. Committee was appointed as follows; Villinger, Hale, & Blodgett. It was then moved by J. M. Blodgett, seconded by L. Villinger that the proposition of the Cary Safe Co. be laid on the table indefinitely, and the Clerk be instructed to notify Mr. Morey of the Action taken by the Board. Carried & so ordered. It was then moved by J. M. Blodgett, seconded by L. Villinger that a Committee of three be appointed to take up the matter of establishing a street grade. Carried and so ordered. Committee appointed as follows: Blodgett, Hale, and Villinger. It was moved by F. O. Hale, seconded by C. A. Rich that a committee of three be appointed to take up the matter of street sprinkling; said Committee have full power to act. Carried and so ordered. Committee appointed as follows: Hale, Rich, and Villinger. It was then moved by J. M. Blodgett, seconded by G. A. Rich that the claim of R. L. Graham Co. for formaldehyde be referred to President G. E. Lawrence as a committee of one. Carried and so ordered. It was then moved by C, A. Rich seconded by F. O. Hale that the claim of S. R. Utter for rebate on license be not allowed, Carried and so ordered. No further business coming before the Board, the Board then, on motion regularly made, seconded and carred, adjourned to reconvene in adjourned regular session on Monday evening May 27, 1907. J. M.
