The Board of Trustees of the City of Lodi convened in regular session pursuant to adjournment, President Lawrence presiding and the following Trustees being present: Blodgett, Hale, Rich and Villinger. Minutes of previous meeting read and approved as read. Communication from County Clerk (E. D. Graham) in regard to money due the City of Lodi from the Road Fund read and filed. A petition asking for an election on the liquor question read and presented by Jms. C. Murphy, Esq., and on motion duly made, seconded and carried the petition was referred to the Board as a Committee of the Whole. Rev. W. R. Grant then arose and as Treasurer of the Temperance League offered to guarantee the expenses of the Special Election if called. Ordinance No 21, entitled "An Ordinance Regulating the Fire Department of the City of Lodi, and to Provide for Better Protection Against Fires Therein," having been read and introduced on April 15, 1907, was read and placed on passage. Moved by L. Villinger, seconded by C. A. Rich that Ordinance No. 21 be adopted as read. Carried by the following vote: Ayes; Villinger, Rich, Blodgett and Hale Noes; None. So ordered. It was then moved by J. M. Blodgett and seconded by L. Villinger that we reconsider Section 16, Ordinance No. 21. The Motion was put and lost by the following vote: Ayes; Blodgett and Villinger. Noes; Rich, Hale and Lawrence. Rev. W. P. Grant then addressed the Board on the question of Carnegie Library and requested the Board to answer question No. 9 of a question blank from Mr. Carnegie's secretary, stating the amount which the Board would pledge for the support of the Library each year. The whole matter was laid on the table. Moved by Blodgett and seconded by Rich that President Lawrence be appointed a Committee to negotiate with the County of San Joaquin regarding the amount of money due the City of Lodi and that the Committee have full power to act. Carried Unanimously. No further business coming before the Board, the Board on motion regularly made, seconded and carried adjourned. J. M. McMahon City Clerk 52
