The Board of Trustees of the City of Lodi convened in regular session, President
Lawrence presiding and the following Trustees being present: Blodgett, Villinger, Hale,
& Rich.
The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
The regular order of business was then suspended and the Rev. R. M. Washburn
addressed the Board at length, complimenting the Board upon their efficient services to
the City, and entering into a discussion of the liquor question and filially presenting a
petition purported to be signed by over 200 qualified electors of the City asking the
Board to adopt an ordinance prohibiting the sale of liquor within the City of Lodi except
by bona fide druggists, a copy of which proposed ordinance was presented with the
petition.
On motion of C. A. Rich, seconded by J. M. Blodgett, and carried by a unanimous vote,
the petition and ordinance were referred to the Board as a Committee of the Whole.
Mr. C. L. Van Buskin then addressed the Board making an eloquent appeal in the behalf
of the women of Lodi, and presenting a petition presumably signed by over 400 women
and men who were not electors.
No objection being offered this petition was referred to the Board as a Committee as a
Whole.
The regular order of business was then taken up and the report of the City Marshal for the
month of March was read and on motion duly made, seconded, and carried, same was
approved and placed on file.
The report of the City Pound Master for the month of March was read and on motion
duly made, seconded and carried, the same was approved and placed on file.
Communication of Cary Bros. declining to accept the lighting proposition of the Board
read and on motion regularly made, seconded and carried, same was placed on file.
The report of the City Clerk for the quarter ending Mar. 31 was read and on motion
regularly made, seconded and carried, the same was approved and placed on file.
The following claims were then read and on motions regularly made seconded and
carried, the same were allowed and ordered paid.

The Claim of S. R. Utter for $2.80 Rebate on License 11143 was read and on motion duly
made, seconded and carried, the same was laid on the table.
Communication of J. C. Gordon, addressed to the Supt. of Streets, was read and placed
on file.
In the matter of Street Lighting, it was regularly moved by J. M. Blodgett and seconded
by L. Villinger that the streetlights be arranged as follows:
That the Arc lights now at the comer of Sacramento & Lockeford Streets, and that the 32
c.p. light now at the M. E. Church be placed at the corner of Sacramento & Lockeford
Streets. All other lights to remain as now placed. Carried & so ordered.
On Motion duly made, seconded and carried the Board then adjourned to reconvene
Monday evening, April 8, 1907.
