The Board of Trustees of the city of Lodi reconvened in adjourned regular session pursuant to adjournment of January 2, 1907, President Lawrence presiding. Present; Lawrence, Villinger, Blodgett, and Rich. Absent; Hale, Minutes of previous meeting read and approved. Bonds of Marshal, Treasurer & Clerks submitted to the Board. Moved by C. A. Rich, seconded by J. M Blodgett that the bond of H. B. Coleman as City Marshal with the following securities; Gottleik Doering, W. F. Keeney, Jms. A. Graham, and S. A. Shinn, be approved by the Board. Carried unanimously. So ordered. Moved by J. M Blodgett, seconded by L Villinger that the Bond of J. M McMahon as City Clerk with the following securities: Chas. G. Guggolz and Adolph Bauer, be approved by the Board. Carried unanimously. So ordered. Moved by L. Villinger, seconded by C.A. Rich that the Bond of W. H. Lorenz as City Treasurer with the following securities: M w. Shidy and H. C. Beckman be approved by the Board. Carried unanimously. So ordered Draft of Ordinance No. 11 (Recorder) read. Moved by C. A. Rich, seconded by J. M. Blodgett that Ordinance No 11 be adopted as read. Carried by the following vote: Ayes; Lawrence, Rich, Blodgett and Villinger. Nos; None. Absent; Hale. The following Resolution was then moved by J. M. Blodgett, seconded by L. Villinger: Resolution: Whereas, the City of Lodi has no adequate accommodation for the incarceration and detention of criminals sentenced to terms of imprisonment for violation of or non compliance with the ordinances of this City, and Whereas, we find upon investigation that it is customary in other counties under like circumstances, to make arrangements with the Board of Supervisors for the imprisonment of City criminals in the County Jail, the City paying therefore a rate fixed by the Board, and 16 Whereas the Board of Trustees of the City of Lodi believe that the interest of the City will be best served by making such an arrangement, if possible, with the Board of Supervisors of the County. Now therefore, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the City of Lodi is hereby authorized to present this proposition to the Board of Supervisors and ascertain if such an arrangement as set forth herein, can be made and the terms thereof and report the matter back to the Board for final action. Passed at an Adjourned regular meeting this fourth day of January, 1907. (Seal) J. M. McMahon, City Clerk The Clerk was then instructed to address the following communication to the Board of Supervisors: January 4, 1907 Lodi, Cal. To the Honorable, the Board of Supervisors, of the County of San Joaquin; The Board of Trustees of the City of Lodi have authorized me to present to your Honorable Board the following facts: That the City of Lodi was incorporated on the 27th day of November, 1906; That such Incorporation took place on the date after the levy and assessment of State and County taxes for the fiscal year of 1906-1907. That a levy of 40 cents on the One Hundred Dollars on the assessed valuation of all property within the incorporated limits of the City of Lodi was made for road purposes and is now payable to the County Treasurer of this County; that the said acts of incorporation removed the streets of the City from the control of your Honorable Board and presents the expenditure of such money by you on the streets of this City; That the Board of Trustees of the City of Lodi believe and therefore represent that said city is entitled to a just proportionment of the money so collected for said purposes. The Board of Trustees of the City of Lodi therefore, petition your Honorable Board to make such disposition of said money that a just proportion thereof will be available for the improvement and repair of the streets of the City of Lodi, and that you take such other action as justice may require in the premises. (Seal) J. M. McMahon, City Clerk Ordinance No. 9 (Misdemeanors) read. Approved by C. A. Rich, seconded by J. M. Blodgett, that Ordinance No. 9 Misdemeanors — be adopted as read. Carried by the following vote: Ayes; Lawrence, Rich, Blodgett & Villinger. Noes; None Absent; Hale 17 Ordinance No. 10 (Cham Gang) read. J. M. Blodgett, that Ordinance No, 10 - (Chain gang) Be adopted as read. Carried by the following vote: Ayes; Lawrence, Rich, Blodgett and Villinger. Noes; None Absent; Hale. The Board then proceeded with the appointment of a Board of Health; the following names being presented to the Board for appointment: D. J. Hemphill, W. F. Keeney, S. W. Hopkins, MD, Geo. W. Lemon and B. F. Woodson. The Board then chose and appointed the above named persons to constitute the Board of Health in and for the City of Lodi, during the pleasure of the Board of Trustees, by the following vote: Ayes: Lawrence, Villinger, Rich and Blodgett Absent; Hale Noes; None Moved by J. M Blodgett, seconded by L. Villinger, that the following resolution be adopted: Resolution. Whereas, Mrs. L. S. Kast did kindly and gratuitously design an ornamental and appropriate seal for the City of Lodi, A vote of thanks for her kindness, and, Be it further resolved, That this Resolution be spread on the minutes of this Board, and a copy thereof be presented to the said Mrs. L.
