On the sixth day of October, 1906, there was presented to the Board of Supervisors of the
County of San Joaquin, State of California, then convened in regular session in the City
of Stockton, California, a petition, setting forth the proposed boundaries, estimated
population, and praying for the incorporation of the City of Lodi as a city of the sixth
class.
Said petition was signed by the following eighty five qualified Electors of the County of
San Joaquin, resident within the boundaries of the said proposed City of Lodi:

The Board of Supervisors then took preliminary steps relating to the proposed
incorporation, fixing boundaries and directing that a census be taken by C. L. Villinger.
The necessary preliminary steps having been taken, the Board of Supervisors, thereupon
issued the following:
NOTICE OF ELECTION
Notice is hereby given that on Tuesday, November 27, 1906, an election will be
called in that portion of the County of San Joaquin, State of California, particularly,
described and bounded as follows, to wit:
Commencing for the beginning of same at a point forty (40) feet west from the Northeast
corner of Section Twelve (12); T.3.N.R.6.E.M.D. B. I. M., and on the West line of

Cherokee Lane road, and running thence South on the West line of said Cherokee Lane
road, forty (40) feet distant from and parallel with the East line of said Section Twelve
(12) one thousand nine hundred and forty (1940) feet, thence West, Parallel with the
North line of said Section Twelve (12) to a point thirty (30) feet East of the West line of
said Section Twelve (12) and on the East line of the county road known as Hutchins
Street; thence North along the East line of said Hutchins street and parallel with the
Section line 1940 feet to the North line of Section Twelve(12), T.3.N.,R.6.E.M.D.B. And
M., thence continuing North the East line of Hutchins Street and parallel with the West
line of Section (1) T.3.N.R.6.E. To Lockeford street; thence continuing on the East line of
Hutchins street produced North to the South line of Louie Avenue in Burrs addition to the
town of Lodi thence East on the South line of Louie Avenue and the South line of Louie
Avenue thence along the East line of the Southern Pacific Railroad right of way.1245
feet; thence East parallel with the South line of Section One (1) T.3.N.R.6.E.M. W. B.
and M. to a point forty (40) feet West of the East line of said Section one (1), and on the
West line of the Cherokee Lane road: thence South forty (40) feet distant from and
parallel with the East line of said Section One (1) and on the West line of the Cherokee
Lane road, 3343 feet to the point of beginning; and having as residents therein Nineteen
hundred and forty-six (1946) inhabitants, for the purpose of determining whether the
same shall be incorporated as a city of the sixth class, to be known as the City of Lodi,
and all voting at such Election will be required to cast ballots containing the words "For
Incorporation" or "Against Incorporation,"or words equivalent thereto, and also, the
names of persons voted for to fill the following offices to wit: Five members of the Board
of Trustees; a Clerk (who shall be ex -officio Assessor); a Treasurer; a Marshal (who shall
be as -officio Tax and License Collector).
Polling place: The Justice's court room in the Town Jail situated on North Sacramento
Street, in the Town of Lodi, in said proposed corporation.
Officers of Election: Inspectors, A. Shinn, W. H. Thompson; Judges, Wm. Moore and S.
H. Williams; Clerks, C. L.Villinger, W. J. Vernon; Ballot Clerks, John Acker, Harry
Myers.
