In regular session of the Board :f Trustees oft e City of Lodi.the following trustees being pre nt:F.O.Hale.G.E.Lawrence, C.A.RiCh and L.Villinger. Absent: Trustee J.M.B1Odgett. President Lawrence presiding. Attorneys E.I.Jones and R.M.F.Soto..und Engineer Tumelty were also present. The minutes of the meeting of Nov. 7,1911,were read and approsed. At eight o'clock F.M..the hour fixed for opening sealed proposals ro bids for doing the street work providers. in Resolution of Intention tio.2,the following sealed proposals er bids for said work were.in open session,severally publically opened,exanined and declared,to-wit: From Ransone-Crumney Company.ag:regating 05672.02; From Federal Construction Comrany,ag^regating 139967.50; From Cite Street Lnprovement Connany,aggregating $37248.02. The said proposals or bids were referred to the Ci tynEngineer and City Attorney to report to thi meeting which is the lowest pro- posals or bid. Subsequentiy.the City Engineer and the City Attorney orally reported to the Board that the proposals or bid of Ransone- Cru1imey Corrany is the lowest proposal or bid. Thereupon,qn motion duly carried.the proposals or bids 'of said City Street Improvement Company and Federal Construction Company.re- spectively.were reiected,and the bonds of said companies ordered re- turned to them. Thereupon,a resolution Was introduced b: Trustee :ale awarding the contract I'or said street work to Ranso:oe-Crummey Company,as the lowest regular responsible bidder.at the prices named in its proposal or bid on £ile.ard.on notion duly seconded and carried,said resolution was adopted by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees: r.C.Rale.G.E.Lawrence and L.Villinger. Noes: Trustee: C.A.Rich. Absent: Trustee: J.M.31od,ett. The re7orts Of the City 'arshal.the City Poundriaster,and the City P1unbing Insrector for the Month of November were read and ar_.;;rcver . Joe Friedburger was granted permission to repair his building.danaged by fire.on lot 7 block 28. In adjourned regular session of the Board of Trustees of the City of Lodi,the following trustees being present: F.G.ale, G.E.Lawrence,C.A.Rich and L.villinger. Absent: J.M.3lodgett. Presid- ent Lawrence•presiding. The minutes of the meeting cf Dec.4,1911,were read and ap- proved. Fred Scholl was granted permission to erect an addition to a barn in•3urr's Addition. The report of Engineer Henderson on the Gas Engine and Pump,re.:oni ending that both engine and pump be accepted and paid for, was read and•ordered filed. 0n-motion,a warrant was drawn on the Water Fund for $3G0G.00 to create a transfer to Municipal Improvement Fund No.2. It -was moved by Trustee Rich.seconded by Trustee Hale.that the claim of•Fairbanks.Morse & 0o.,anountin„ to $760.65 for pump and other machinery.be allowed and ordered paid. Motion carried. Cn•motion.a warrant was ordered drawn in favcr of Samson Iron Works for $577.5G.balance of ccntraet price cf Gas Engine. Co..or. the matter of supplying gas to the inhabitants Of the city. -He e claimed that Ine gas produced by his machine Out of carbonaceous materials such as potatoes,cabbage. ^ay.grain and other animal foods.as well as oil or coal,was of much higher ::eating and lu minatinig quality than cas.nade by the cupola method.and was practically free from smoke.soot.water and carbon -mon- oxide. He was advised to _.resent his pr000sition in writing: On motion of Trustee Rich.secondied by Trustee 4ale.Supt. ..Inning was instructed to have the necessary changes made it the exhaust pipe of the gas engine. on motion of the sane trustees.Supt.:-enning was instructed to put in a stock of metal filament electric lamps for the betterment of the efficiency of the light plant.
