In regular session of the Board of Trustees of the Cit,- of Lodi,the following trustees being present: J.M.Blodgett,G.E.Lawrence, C.A.Rich and L.Viii1n er. Absent:, Trustee F.O.Hale. President Lawrence presiding. The minutes of the meeting of Aug.28,1911,were read and — approved. A letter from H.Brannack asking for the job of sweeping the City Hall once a week,and scrubbing it twice a month was read. He asked for 3.00 per month,and it was stated that Constable Floyd had made the proposition that the City pay ?2.50 per month and the County would Day $2.50. It was ordered that the proposition of Floyd be accepted and the Clerk make the necessary arrangements. A communication from Ransorle-Crummey Conpany,setting forth their reasons for not signing the contract for street work and demand- ing the return of their certified c'^.eck,was read and filed. Mr. Kelleher of the aforesaid company was present and discussed the matter with the 3oard, statin, that his company was very anxious to do the work. A communication from the League of California Muni•:ipalities stating that the next meeting of the League would be held in Santa Barbara Oct.23-28,was read and filed. A communication from Engineer Henderson regarding the work at the water plant was read and filed. The reports of the Marshal and of the Plumbing and Sewer Inspector for,the month of August were read and filed. The report of the Secretary of the Board of Library Trustees for the fiscal year ending June 3i.1911.was reads and filed. • A statement of the estimated requirements of the library for the next fiscal year was read and laid on the table to be taken up at the time of fixing the tax levy. Messrs.LeMoin and Williams of the Libray Board made some explanations of the conduct and require- ments of the library. The following applications for building permits were read and granted: G.F.Lladison.Green House at 110 W.Lodi Ave.; Hieb & Marklaen.Church on lot 1 Block 9 Hutch.Add. On rotion,it was ordered that a warrant be drawn on the Water Fund for $25C0.0C and on the Light Fund for 02500.00 in favor of Municipal Improvement Nand No.2 for extensions and betterments. l If! 1w On motion.a warrant was ordered drawn on Municipal Improve— ment Fund No.2 in favor of General Fund for 4839.93 to reimburse General Fund for money paid for improvements of the Water plant. Various claims against the City aggregating the sum of $2741.40,having been approved by the Auditting Committee,were allow— and ordered RN paid. The claim of the Western States Gas and Electric Company for el000.00 for August power was approved by the Anditting Con itte in the sum of 4750.00 and ordered paid in that sum. The Clerk was instructed to write the Western States Gas & Electric Company for a statement of meter readings. The matter of furnishing current for the Precoolilg plant was taken up.and a•copy of the proposed contract read. On•motion. the President of the 3oard of Trustees was authorized to enter into the contract with Pacific Fruit Cooling and Vaporizing Company upon said company's giving good and sufficient security to guarantee the payment of the bills. The natter of fixing the tax rate was then taken up. Upon rotion,it was ordered that the tax rate for the City of Lodi upon each $100.00 of valuation of taxable property,in provis— ion of revenue for the fiscal year beginning July 1,1912,but for collection according to law during the year 1911 be and the sane is hereby fixed as follows: For General ?urposes,$.55; for Library Purposes,$.14; for Bond Redemption and Interest Purposes,$•:56; and that an ordinance in accordance therewith be prepared and enacted. The *motion was adopted by the affirmative votes of Trustees J.M. Blodgett,G.E.Lawrence,C.A.Rich and L.Villinger. Noes:None-Absent: Trustee F.O.Hale. In the matter of making out the tax re^eipts.it was ordered that the Marshal procure the necessary assistance. On motion,the Board adjourned until September 11,1911. Attest:
