In adjourned regular session of the Board of Trustees of the City of Lodi,pursuant to adjournetrent of Aug.8th.,1911,the following members of the Board being present: J.M.3lodgett,G.E. Lawrence,C.A.Rich and L.Villinger. Absent:F.O.Hale. Attorney E.I. Jones and Engineer R.C.Tunelty were also present. President Lawrence presiding. The minutes of the meeting of Aug.Bth.,1911.were read and approved. The hour for opening bids for street work having arrived, the following blds.being all the bids received,were opened and read by the City Clerk: Ransome .Crumiey Company,Federal Construction Co., Frank R,Ritchie. The bids were then referred to City Attorney awd E.I.Jones and City Engineer R.C.Tumelty. On examination.it was found that the bids were as follows: Ransome Crummey Company, `356'72.01, accompanied by a certified check in the sum of 5000.00$,payable to the order of the President of the Board of Trustees; Federal Con— struction Company,*36891.94,accompanied by a bond in the sum of $4000.00; Frank R.Ritchie,$37026.09.accompanied by a bond in the sum $5000.00. The following resolution was then read: RESOLUTION OF AWARD NO.1. RESOLVED:, that the Board of Trustees of the City of Lodi, County of San Joaouin.State of California.having in open session on the 14th. day of August,1911,opened.examined and 1ublically declared all sealed proposals or bids for the following work: • That Sacramento Street from the north line of Lodi Avenuerito the south line of Lockeford Street,excepting that portion thereof north of a curved line two feet south from the southernmost rail of the Southern Pacific Railroad; that Elm Street from the east line of School Street to the west line of Sacramento Street and from the east line of Sacramento Street to a line two feet west from the westermost rail of the Southern Pacific Railroad; and that Pine Street from the east line of School Street to the west line of Sac— ramento Street (except such portions thereof as are required by law to be kept in order or repair by any person or company having railroad tracks thereon and excepting also such portions thereof as are occupied by concrete sidewalks thereon) be graded to the official grade; that along the roadway sides thereof (excepting the south• roadway line of said Pine Street immediately fronting lots number 190 16, 17 and 16 in block number 16) a concrete curbing six inches wide be constructed; that along said above described roadway sides of Sac- ramento, Elm and Pine Streets, except the main roadway of said Pine Street, said curbing shall to the' grade of the battem inafter provided for; that Street, said curbing shall the bottom of the abutting that upon the sub -grade of be of a depth extending from curb grade of the abutting concrete foundation here - along the main roadway sides of said Pine be of a depth extending from curb grade to concrete gutters hereinafter provided for; the roadway of said first described por- tions of Sacramento, Elm and Pine Streets, except the main, roadway of said Pine Street, a concrete foundation five inches thick be laid; that along the main roadway sides only of said first described por- tions of Sacramento, Elm and Pine Streets, concrete gutters twenty- four inches in width at culverts and fifteen inches in width at all other places be laid; that at' main street intersections, arched re- inforced concrete culverts eight feet long, twenty-four inches wide and two inches thick be constructed over the gutters between the produced bounding lines of the sidewalk spaces of each intersecting street; that along the roadway sides of said first described por- tions of Sacramento and Elm Streets, said above described gutters shall be laid directly on said concrete foundation; that along 'said above described portions of the roadway sides of Pine Street, said above described gutters shall be six inches thick; that for the main roadway of said Pine Street, the present macadam surface shall be taken for a sub -grade and thereupon laid an asphaltic binder to a height and cross-section one and one-half inches below surface grade; that over all of the roadway of said first described portions of Sacramento and Elm Streets,except all gutter areas heretofore provided for,an asphaltic binder course one inch thick shall be laid; that over all of the roadway of said first described portions of Sacramento, Elm and Pine Streets,except all gutter areas heretofore provided for,an asphaltic wearing course one and one-half inches thick be laid., hereby rejects all of said bids,except that next herein mentioned, and hereby awards the contract for said work to the lowest respon- sible bidder,to-wit: to Ransoms Crunmey Co. at the prices specified in its proposal on file for said work. The Clerk of this Board of Trustees is hereby directed to post notice of this award conspicuously for five days on or near FF 't41 D 191 the Chamber door of this Board of Trustees, and also publish said notice in The Lodi Sentinel, a tri -weekly newspaper of general circulation published'and circulated in this City, therefor and hereby designsted, for two days, the said'newspaper being the only newspaper of general circulation or printed in the English language and published and circulated in said City. Upon motion regularly made and seconded,the foregoing resolution was adopted as read by the affirmative votes of Trustees J.M.Blodgett,G.E.Lawrence,C.A.Rich and L.Villinger. Noes: None. Absent:F.O.Rale. The resolution was then approved by the ?resident of the Board of Trustees. The Clerk was instructed to return the bonds to the un- successful bidders. It was moved and seconded that in the matter of the pur- chase of'several items of pipe,fittings.etc. from Sarson Iron Works, to the amount of $839.99,and of the purchase of certain tools,hard- ware.etc. from Holt Manufacturing 00..to the wnount of s431.53,said purchases are hereby ratified and approved by the Board of Trustees. which motion was carried. The following warrants were ordered drawn: 88.13 839.99 131.53. Lodi Hardware Cc..Supplies. Samson Iron Works.Pipe etc.. Holt Mnifg.Co..Hdw. ,etc. , Attest: The Board adjourned.
