In adjourned regular session of the Board of Trustees of the City of Lodi,the following trustees being present: ».0.Hale, ..E.Lawrence,C.A.Rich and L.Villinger. Absent:J.M.Blodgett. President Lawrence presiding. The minutes of the meeting of June 5th..1911,were read and approved. Attorney T.S.Loutitt appeared before the Board on behalf of Central California Traction Company in regard to an application for a certain franchise. ORDINANCE N0.55. Ordinanoe No.55,granting Central California Traction Company a franchise to lay certain tracks on Sacramento Street,having been read and introduced on May 22,1911,was read and placed on passage. On motion,the ordinance was adopted as read by the affirmative votes of Trustees F.O.Hale.G.E.Lawrence.C.A.Rich and L.Villinger. Noes:None. F.B.Mills was granted a -permit to ere t an auto shed on West Oak St. The application of the Mission Wine Company for a building permit was or,.motion,rejected. The following claims were allowed and ordered paid: Mat »amilton,Services. -- ---- $2.00 Eugene Dietzgen Co.,Supplies. 4.50 J.W.Crose.Labor, 45.00 Total Claims allowed, ;51.50 A.Toland,representing Stockton Electrical Workers Union No.207.appeared before the Bard and tried to pursuade the Board to employ union labor on certain electrical work. G.G.Smith representing the Austin Western Company.Ltd.. apperaed before t'=e Board in regard to street sprinitlers and road machinery. n.P.Doepke appeared before the 3oaaid and exhibited a*sanple of water and choice wrigglers or young mosquitos. G.G.Nepper,Sewer Supt..dra_nk the water,after having screened the wrigglers from same. to prove to the Board that the water was harmless. Pres.Lawrence stated to Mr.Doepke that the Board would try to eliminate the mosquitos if possible. Mr.Doepke made the proposition to the City that if the City would give him the water and the land which the City was not using (said to be about three acres ).or lease the same to him for a number of years,he 'mould buy two acres some where and move his house upon it. The President of the Board stated to Mr.Dcepke that the Boar: might entertain a plan to lease the ground which the City does not use,and promised Mr.Doepke that he would take the matt -:r of leasing the land 112 with the City Attorney and see what could be done, The Street Committee recommended that the City give the Tokay Band the sum of 010.00 for each concert for each Wednesday evening for the months of July,August and September.
