In regular session of the Board of Trustees of the City
of Lodi,the following trustees being present: J.M.31od,ett.F.O.?iale,
O.E.Lawrence,C.A.Rich and L.Villinger. Presiden_t.Lawrence presiding.
The Minutes of the meeting of May 8,1911,were read and
approved.
The time for receiving bids for street work having arrived,
the President of the Board ordered the receiving of bids closed.
Attorney Jones presented Proofs of Publination and of Post—
ing of Notice Inviting Street Work Proposals,whieh proofs were received
and ordered filed.
The following proposals for street work were then opened
and read by the Clerk:

After canvassing the various bids,the following resolution
was read and introduced:
RESOLUTION OF AWARD N0.1.
RESOLVED: that the Board of Trustees of the City of Lodi,
County of San Joaquin.State of California,having in open sess—
ion on the 15th day of May,1911,opened,examined and publicly declared
all sealed proposals or bids Offered for the following work:
That Sacramento Street from the north line of Lodi Avenue to
the south line of Lockeford Street,excepting that portion thereof
north of a.curved line two feet south from the southernmost rail of
the Southern Pacific Railroad; that Elm Street from the east line
of School Street to the west line of Sacramento Street and from the
east line of Sacramento Street to a line two west from the western—
most rail of the Southern Pacific Railroad; and that Pine Street from
the east line of School Street to the west line of Sacramento Street
(except such portions.thereof as are required by law to be kept in
order or repair by any person or company having railroad tracks thereon
and excepting also such portions thereof as are occupied by concrete
sidewalks thereon) be graded to the official grade; that along the
roadway sides thereof (excepting the south roadway line of said Pine
Street immediately fronting lots number 16,17 and 18 in block number
16) a concrete curbing six inches wide be constructed; that along
said above described roadway sides of Saerarento,Eln and Pine Streets,
except the main roadway of said Pine Street.said curbing shall be

concrete foundation hereinafter provided for; that along the main
roadway sides of said Pine Street,said curbing shall be of a depth
extending from curb grade to the bottom of the abutting concrete
gutters hereinafter provided for; that upon the sub -grade of the •
roadway of said first described portions of Sacramento,Elm and Pine
Streets,except the main roadway of said Pine Street,a concrete found—
ation five inches thick be laid; that along the main roadway sides
only of said first described portions of Sacramento,Elm and Pine
Streets,concrete gutters twenty-four inches in width at culverts
and fifteen inches in width at all other places be laid; that at
main street intersections,arched reinforced concrete culverts eight
feet 1ong,twenty-four inches wlrie and -two- inches thick be constructed
over the gutters between the produced bounding lines of the side-
walk spaces of each intersecting.street; that along the roadway sides
of said first described portions i4f Sacramento and Elm Streets,said
above described gutters shall be laid directly on said concrete
foundation; that along said above described portions of the roadway
sides of Pine Street,said above described gutters shall be six -inches
thick; that for the main roadway of said Pine Street,the present m
macadam surface shall be taken for a sub -grade and thereupon laid
an asphaltic binder to a height and cross-section one and one-half
inch's below surface grade; that over all of the roadway of said Ix
first described portions of Sacramento and Elm Streets,except all
gutter areas heretofore provided for; an asphaltic binder course one
inch thick shall be laid;that over all of the roadway of said first
described portions of Sacramento,Elm and Pine Streets,except all gx
gutter areas heretofore provided for,an asphaltic wearing course one
and one-half inches thick be laid,hereby rejects all of said bids
except that next herein mentioned,and hereby awards the contract for
said work to the lowest responsible bidder,- to The Barber Asphalt
Paving Company,- at the prices specified in its proposal on file
for said work.
The Clerk of this Board of Trustees is herbby directed
to post notice of this award conspicuously for five days on or near
the Chamber door of this Board of Trustees,and also publish: said xx
notice in THE LODI SENTINEL,a tri -weekly newspaper of general cir-
culation published and circulated in this City,therefor and hereby
designated,for two days,the said newspaper being the only newspaper
of general circulation or printed in the English language and
published or circulated in said City.

Upon motion of Trustee Blodgett,seconded by Trustee Villinger,
the foregoing resolution was adopted by the affirmative votes of
Trustees J.M.Biodgett,F.0.'_-.a1e.G.D.Lawrence,C.A.Rich and L.Jillinger.
Noes: None. Whereupon the resolution was approved by the President
of the Board of Trustees.
The Clerk was instructed by the President of the Board to
return the certified ohex to the unsuccessful bidders.
C.D.White was granted permission to add to and remodel his
building at 200 S.Sohool St.
The report of the plumbing inspector for the months of
reb..Mar.,and April was read and approved.
The application of H.N.Hadison for a master plumber's 1±
license,approved by the plumbing inspector,and accompanied by a bond
for $500.0O,w1th David Reilly and C.H.Guyon as sureties,was read
and upon motion the bond was approved and the license ordered issued.
George Washington Brown asked that the City supply water
to him and other inhabitants of subdivision #10 of Burr's Addition
to Lodi. The matter was referred to Supt.Henning.,
Upon motion,the Supt.Henning was instructed to get new pipe
to convey water to the Barnhart Tract.
Upon motion,the ard adjourned until May 22,1911, at the
usual hour and place.
