MEETING DATE: January 7, 1998 PREPARED BY: Parks and Recreation Director RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council authorize the purchase of Rainbird Maxicom components for irrigation systems at the above four locations. BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The City Council has authorized the expenditure of annual department capital improvement funds to implement a central computerized water management system (Maxicom) for the city parks system. To date, we have installed this system at Legion, Van Buskirk, Peterson, and three locations at Lodi Lake Park. The weather station is located at Peterson Park and the central control computer and software is managed in the Parks Division office. Installation of the irrigation components will be in-house. Dixon Flynn -- City Manager Maxic=9798 12117/97 RESOLUTION NO. 98-03 A RESOLUTION OF THE LODI CITY COUNCIL AUTHORIZING THE SOLE -SOURCE PURCHASE OF THE RAINBIRD MAXICOM SYSTEM FOR THE SOFTBALL COMPLEX, STADIUM, LAWRENCE AND ZUPO PARKS WHEREAS, Lodi Municipal Code, §3.20.070, authorizes dispensing with bids for purchases of supplies, services or equipment when it is in the best interests of the City to do so; and WHEREAS, In October 1996, a presentation of the Rainbird Maxicom Computerized Irrigation System was made to the City Council; and WHEREAS, the City Council authorized staff to move forward in implementing this system in the parks; and WHEREAS, Maxicom Irrigation Components have been purchased and installed at Legion Park, Van Buskirk, Peterson Park which includes a weather station, and three other locations at Lodi Lake Park; and WHEREAS, it is staff recommendation that the City purchase the Rainbird Maxicom System for the Softball Complex, Stadium, Lawrence and Zupo Parks. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Lodi does hereby approve the purchase of the Rainbird Maxicom System for the Softball Complex, Stadium, Lawrence and Zupo Parks in the amount of $22,558.23.
