In regular session of the B:ard f Trustees of the City of•Lodi.the following trustees being present: C.A.B1ack,F.O.Hale, G.E.Lawrence and C.A.=ich. Absent: Trustee J.`4.Blodgett. President Lawrence prseding. The miutes of the meeting of Dec.1.1913.were read and approved. Rev.Victor M.Kov1s on behalf of the various committees promoting the open. -air Christmas tree asked the City to loan them the necessary electric current and wiring. Referred to P.U.Com. and Supt.Henning. Rev.Dorr of the Street Receptacle Advertising Company ap- peared before the board and offered to give a dozen trask cans to the City free of charge.providing htey could be placed on the side- walk and rivited down and the surface used as ads for local merchants. Referred to Street Committee. An application forvi H.S.Clark Jr..asking permission to connect the premises at 27 N.Hutchins Street with the Lodi Sewer. was read and laid on the table indefinitely. Reports from Supt.-:e:.ning that he had completed the sewer extensions ir. the Lancaster Addition and on South Eaton Avenue.and that he had erected a pole line between Pine and E1m.Grard=St.and Cherokee Lane was read and filed. The following applications for Building Permits were read and granted: Geo.E.McCann.dwelling on lot 1 block 37; Citrus Fruit Products Co.,shed on lot 71 Barnhrat Tract. A letter from A.J.Coffee of the Gamewell Company expressing and errest desire to install fire -alarm boxes in the Cit; was read. The Finance Committee recommended that the Claim of Home Builders Investment and Security Company for $12.50.refund on taxes paid on lot 9 block 1.Uoran-Handel Addition.for improvements thereon, be disallowed for the following reasons: Property in the City of Lodi is assessed as of the first Monday in March of each year,and it appears to said com ittee that the improvements on said lot exist- ed on said date.and that therefore the assessment was proper. Various claims against the City amounting to $1570.81, having been apprved by the Finance Comrtittee.were allowed and order- ed payed. The matter of irrigating the street broom was referred to Street Committee. Supt.:enning reported that Supervisor Newtorstated that the county would pay $15.00 toward the lighting of Hutchins Street and Cherokee Lane.That the expense of installation would be about $750.00. Referred to Street Coranittee. It was moved by R'.ch,seconded by Black.that the work of placing lights on the above streets be ordered and the Street Comm mittee authorized to specify the requirements. The committee on the matter of placing a sign on the arch reported that ft had conferred wit i the committee of the Merchants' Association.and that an uncertain party (afterwards ascertained to be J.L.Pickering) had made a proposition t:: place 4-30" letters above the port -holes in the arch. Said letters to be of galvanized iron.with set-in lights.and so constructed that the sign would be visible day or :tight. The cost would be $207.00. On motion,the Board adjourned until Dec.22,1913,at the usual hour and place. Attest: City Cierk.
