Municipal Building,Lodi.California.Nov.10,1913.
In regular session of the Board of Trustees of the City
of Lodi,the following trustees being present: C.A.Blaek.J.M.Blodgett,
F.O.Hale,G.E.Lawrence and C.A.Rich. Pres#dent Lawrence presiding.
The minutes of the meeting of Nov.3,1913,werevread abd ap-
proved.
The following bids for the furnishing of fire hose were
opened and read:
The Gutta Percha & Rubber Mfg.Co, 2*" Hose @ 80¢,1j-" Hose 0 40 & 35
New York Belting & Packing Co.,2*" Hose 85 & $1.10,1*" 20 & 40¢;
Bowers Rubber Works.2*" Hose 80.70 & 65¢,1" Hose c4 60,55 & 45¢;
American Rubber Mfg.Co..2*" Hose 85A,1j-" Hose 0 44.
Afetr careful consideration of the bids,the following
motion was made by Black,sec^nded by Rich:That the bid of Bowers Rubber
Company for the furnishing of 1000 feet of 2-" "Victor" Hose ® $.80
per foot,and for the furnishing of 200 feet of 1j" "Guardian" Hose
0 $.45 per foot be accepted and all other bids rejected and the
certified checks returned to such unsuccessful bidders. The motion
was carried by the unanimous vote of the Board.
An invitation from Secretary of Lodi Merchants' Association,
inviting the members of the Board and clerk to attend their meeting
on the evening of Nov.11th.,was read.and,on motion of Rich,seconded
by Blodgett,the invitation was accepted with thanks.
The following applications for building permits were read
and granted:
H.N.Madison.concrete building on lot 8 block 16;
B.A.Benedict,garage on lot 1,Barnhart Tract;
W.T.Owens,dwelling on lot 3 block 4,Moran-Handel Ad6ition.
The application of Elliott E.Meyers for a gasoline permit
at the rear of 31 S.Sacramento St. was laid over for one week.
Various claims amounting to $265.84,having been approved
by the Finance Committee,were allowed and ordered 'paid.
ORDINANCES.
Ordinance No.72,entitled,"An Ordinance Amending Sections
18 and' I9 --of Ordinance No .9 of the City of Lodi" ,having been read
and introduced on Nov.3,1913,was read and placed on passage.
It was moved by Rich,seconded by Black,that Ordinance No.72
be adopted as read.which motion was carried clad the ordinance adopted
by the f:liowing vote:
Ayes: Trustees Black.Blodgett,Hale,Lawrence and Rich. Noes: None.
Jrdinance No.73,entitled,"Prohibiting the Dancing of Certain
Dances at or in Certain Places,and Making It Unlawful for Certain
"Persons Having Such ?laces Under Their Control to Allow or Permit
the Dancing of Certain Dances Therein".having been read and introduced
on Nov.3,1913,was read -and placed on passage.
It was moved by Hale,seconded by Black,that Ordinance No.73
be adopted as read,which motion was carried and the ordinance adopted
by the following vote:
Ayes: B1ack.Blodgett,Hale.Lawrence and Rich. Noes: None.
Ordinance No.74,entitled,"Prohibiting Minors Under Certain
Age after Certain Hours in the Night Time from Being on the Public
Streets,Avenues,Alleys,Squares or Parks.and from Attending Certain
Places of Public Amusement,without Being Accompanied by Parent,Guardian
or Custodian,and Prohibiting Parents,Guardians or Custodians of Minors
under Certain Age from Permitting or Allowing Such Minors to be On
the Public Streets,Avenues,Alleys,Squares or Parks,or to Attend
Certain Places of Public Amusement after Certain Hours in the Night
Time without Being Accompanied by Parent,Guardian or Custodian".
having been read and introduced on Nov.3,1913.was read and placed
on passage.
It was moved by 31odgett,seconded by Black,that Ordinance
No.74 be adopted as read,which motion was carried and the ordinance
adopted by the following vote:
Ayes: B1ack.31odgett.Hale,LaNrence and Rich. Noes: None.
Trustee gale stated that R.Squire wanted a rebate of taxes
paid o:: motor-cycle.as the cycle was the property of the state.referred
to Committee of the Whole.
President Lawrence stated that a party wanted to buy the
old hose cart.now discarded. It was suggested by Black that the
President of the Board be empowered to sell the same.
The matter of some one to look after the fire engine
during such time as Engineer McClure might be at his meals was dis-
cussed,and it was suggested that President Lawrence handle the matter
of getting some one.
The Board adjourned.
