Municipal Building.Lodiaiifor..ia.uct.20,1913.
In regular session of the Board of Trustees of the City
of Lodi.the following trustees beung present: C.A.Black.J.M.Blodgett,
B.0.Hale and C.A.Rich. Absent:President Lawrence.
Trustee C.A.Black was chosen President Pr: Tem.
The minutes of the neeting of Oct.6,1913, were Thad and
approved.
A communication fronDes Moines Bridge & Iron Works,in regard
to painting the tank -was read.and the Clerk instructed to say to them
that they might paint the tank at any time now.
A communication from Industrial Accident Board.int rming
us of the provisions of the new law regarding insurance,was read,and
the Clerk instructed to give them the amount of our payroll.
The report of the Clerk and of the Treasurer for the quarter
ending Sep.30,1913,was read,accepted and filed.
The report of J.M.McMahon,as a representative to the bon-
vention of the League of California Municipalities.was read and
aczepted.
The following applications for building permits were read
and granted:
G.W.Van Noate,woodshed.on lots 23&24 block 4.Barnhart Tract;
W.J.Marchand.roof over wood.o:: lot 3 block SC;
L.B.Hines.noving bldg..on lot 8 block 11;
L.T.Maeon,dwelling and garage.or: lot 12 block 11,?iutch.Aad.
John H.Davies.representing the Lodi Fire Department.stated
that the following apparatus was needed:
1000 ft.2-" Fire Hese;200 ft.l*" R.L.Hose; 12-2f" Xp.Ring Coupl-
ings; 24 Xp.Rings for above; 1-2f" Ne -Plus Hose Xpander; 2-1t" Noz.;
2-2f"x 1-" x 1?" Spanner Lugs. The estimated cost of the foregoing
apparatus is 0006.00.
Chief Stark of Fire Department stated that we have now 1000'
of good hose and 650' of deteriorated hose,and that we should get the
equipment asked for.
On motion of Rich.seconded by Blodgett,it was ordered that
the hese and other equipment asked for be purchased.all of the Trustees
present voting aye.
The claim of Builders' Iron Works.S168.75.for jail
equipment.an* of J.M.McMahon,$62.00,xpenses of attendance on League
Convention.haing been approved by Fina:ce Committee,were allowed and
ordered paid.
Chairman Rich of Building Committee reported that the contract
for the remodeling of the pumping plant building had beer let to
W.L.Voorheis & Son,who were ready to commence operations.
Chairman Hale of Street Committee reported that r.o meeting
had yet been held with committee of Merchants' Association on the
matter of a sign on arch.
Chairman Blodgett of Public Utilities Committee reported
that the natter of lighting East Pine Street was in the hands of
Supt.Henning.
Supt.Henning advised the placing of lights on Pleasant Ave.
at Daisy and Woodbridge Avenues,and he was instructed to do so.
Marshal Coleman stated that the residents of W.Oak St.wanted
a light placed at the Corner of Oak and Hutchins. Supt.Henning
suggested that perhaps the County would ,oin in lighting Hutchins
St.and Cherokee Lane;that it would to}:e 15 lights;that hal_"' the
cost would be S15.00 per mont-h to the county.He was authorized to
take the matter ':p with Supervisor Newton..
St.Supt.Colenan stated that the crossing in front of Beckman's
store had broken down.and wished to knew tf the cit; would repair
it or if it should be taker. up. Instructed to repair it
Trustee Rich sug-ested that.while we were at it.we might
as well take up the matter of reairing the alley between the ban};
buildings where the pavement was broker in movang a pole. He also
suggested that a manhole be placed at the_alley junction in block 16.
The Board adjourned.
