In regular session cf the Board of Trustees of the City
of Lcdi,(the first Monday in Septemeer being a legal holiday by virtte
of the previsions of Secticr_ 7,Civil Code of California, ) the following
trustees telrg present: C.E.Slat?:,J.1.:.31odgett,o.L.Lawrence and
C.A.Ric:^.. Absent: Trustee F.O.Hale. ?re-ident Lawrence.presiding.
The minutes of the meeting of Aug.25,1913.!sere rear. and
approved.
A communication frcm the State _Gird of Charities and
Corrections,calli.g attention to the fact tat a register of the City
Jail must be kept,was read and the Clerk instructed to eet prices
from Carlisle & Cc. and ':!yse11—Aclins Co.
A communication from Les Moines _ridge & Iron Co..in regard
to the painting of the water ta-k,v:as read and the clerk instructed
to ask for terms.

81.00 per day for the use of horse and wagon instead of ;:50 per day,
was read and refrred to Supt . Colenan ,u'ho recommended that the increase
be baanted.and,on motion of Elodgett,it was ordered that A.Lilienthal
be paid 81.00 per day for the use of horse and wagon,beginning Sep.l.

A cG;.munication from Marshal Coleman.1nforming the Board

recd and filed.
The reports of the Marshal and Plumbing Inspector for the
month cf August were read,accepted and filed.

Fite Chief Stark stated that a demonstration of the chemical
engine would take place Friday evening at 7:30 o'clock. He suggested
that the entrance to the engine house be concreted,which natter was
referred t' the Building Committee.
On motion of Black,the president of the Board was authorized
to sign a warrant in payment of freight on the fire engine,'rhen the
engine had teen accepted.

President Lawrence brought up the matter :f the dispute
over Mrs.Buannack's water bill. Referred t0 Supt.He ninc to settle.
Trustee Black spoke of the advisability of either raising
the pole line in the alley through blocks 15 & 10 or putting the
wires underground. The matter was referred to Supt.i'ennirg to Hake
a report on the cost of ea ^ system at the next meeting.
St .Supt . Coiemian stated (that many people Were using the reuse
cans along the street for all hinds of garbage.
CITY ENGINEER.
It was moved by B1ack.seccnided by Rich.that L.n.Barzeiictti
be employed as City Engineer at a salary of $75.0C per rcnth;said
engineer to be subject to the call of city work at all•times.which
city work must have preference over private work: all fees or, street
construction work to be turned into the city treasury,but on all
private work the fees to co to the engineer;said appointment to
be effective from Sep.1.1913. The motion was carried ana so ordered.

$2781.G7,havinb been approved by the Fi..ance Ccxts:ittee.vere allowed
and crdered paid.
