Municipal Building,Lodi,California.June 23.1913.
Ir. adjourned regular session of the Board of Trustees of
the City of Lodi.the following trustees beim; present: C.A.Black,
F.0-.Hale,G.E.Lawrence and C.A.Ric'r.. Absent:Trustee J.M.Blodgett.
President Lawrence presiding.
The minutes of the meeting of June 10,1913.were read and
approved.
A supplemental report of Chief Star} showing a statement
of insurance involved and estimated loss by fires in the city during
the nineteen months ending June 1.1913,was read and filed.
A communication from the President of the Board of School
Trustees,on the matter of the application of Geo.icCann for a permit
to build a carpenter shop o:: lot 1 of block 37,zaas read and filed.
A letter from the Woman's Improvement Club on the matter
the condition in which the Gas Company leaves the streets,riddi_ng
the city of.flies,cleaning up of weeds and trimming of trees was
read and filed.
The following applications for building permits were read
and granted:
Frank Miehels.barn on lot 2 block 0 A&P Add.;
Graham & Marshal,cenent shed on lots 21.23,25 block B Sub72;
W.J.Marchand.fence on lass 3&4 block 20;
R.Senner,moving bldg.fr.lot 8 blk 12 to lot 20 blk 2 Burr Add.;
Geo.McCann,carperter shop on lot 1 block 37.
On motion of Black.seconded by Rich,the President c: the
car was atithc__:ed tc e'En a ecntrect with General Electric.Conpany
for transformers.
The following resolution was introduced by Trustee Rich
and read by the Clerk:,
WHEREAS the Board of Trustees of the City of Lodi deem it for
the best interests of all concerned that a Police officer be appoint-
ed for said City.
Be it Resolved:
That it is the sense of the Board of Trustees
of the City of Lodi that a Police officer be appointed and the ap-
pointment of such officer is hereby authorized
That said officer shall hold office at the will of said
Trustees and shall receive such compensation as may from time to
time be fixed by said Board. The Clerk and President of said Board
are hereby authorized and directed in accordance herewith to issue
a commission to such person as may be appointed by this Board.

On motion of Hale.seconded by Black,the foregoing resolut-
ion was adopted by the affirmative votes of Trustees Black.Hale,
Lawrence and Rich.
Upon the written: recommendation of the City Clerk,approved
by the Finance Connilttee.the following order was made by the Board,
on motion of Hale.seco- ' by F]edk:
That original warrant No.600.for j2.40 drawn in favor of
C.H.Q.ucng on Oct.4,1913.ar.d original warrant No.1083 drawn in favor
of Chas.Kemper on Nov.7,191C.be cancelled and payment stopped there-
on and duplicate warrants be issued in lieu thereof;
That the sum of S5987.55,the balance of Water Fund.and
the sum of $5714.64.the balance of Light Fund,be transferred to
General Fund.thus eliminating the Water and Light Funds.
The foregoing order was made on the affirmative votes of Tri:stee
Bla^k,Hale, awren e arid Rich.
Claims against the City amounting to the sun of $167.25,
having been approved by Finance Committee,were allowed and ordered
paid.
0.. the recommendation of Supt.Henning that a collector be
sent out on the filth. of the month,Trustee Bla tk reported for the
committee that the committee did not find it within their province
to make any reconmendation,as the matter - as fully covered by ordin-
ance.
On the natter of telephone poles on E.?ine Street being
in the street.the Clerk was instructed to get the opinion of Judge
Jones on the question of responsibility for accidents occuring.

The matter of the delinquent tax list was tatten up and
'darshal Coleman reported that the amount un paid was x,10.35.
Cr, motion cf Hale.senonded by Black,the Marshal wa.t, instrct-
ed to pay said delinouert taxes and present a claim on the city for
the amount so paid.
CrOn motion,the Board adjourned until Jure 3 at the usual
time and place.
