In regular session of the Board of Trustees of the City
of Lodi,the following trustees being present: C.A.Black.J.M.Blodgett,
F.O.}Iale,G.E.Lawrence and C.A.Rich. : resident Lawrence presiding.
The minutes of the .meeting of Apr.14.1313.were read and
approved.
The following applications for building permits were read
and granted:
The Friedburger Estate,a new floor at 14 ?,.ain Street;
H.M. Staniley.a woodshed on lot 4 bloc}: 34;
A.- Thew.a dweliin.T or bloc. 15.Ealmhart Tract;
S.M.Zimmer:ian.dweliing on lot 5 block 4.
The report of Treasurer for quarter was read and filed.
A letter fron ,ayton Relief Committee to 11.ayor Lawrence.
thanking the people of Lodi for their generous assistance.was read
and filed.
A communication from Woman's I::prcvenent Club,asking for
the opening of Lee aed Pleasant Avenues was read and referred to
Street Committee.
The .latter of insurance was taken up and refer: d to Public
Utilities Committee.
Chairman Ric:, of the committee to which was referred the
application of Elliot E.Meyers reported that he had investigated the
matter and that Meyers would store the gasciine in a shed at the rear
of the lot on construct a corrugated iron shed for storing it.That
he could see no objections to granting the per:I.it.but tnat further
time should be granted sc that the other ,:embers of the committee
might also investigate. Request fcr further tine :ranted.
Chairman Blodgett of the Public utilities Cennittee report-
ed that the Committee was in favor of granting the request of
Western States Gas & Electric Company for the purchase of seven
poles. On I7otion.the report of the Con .1ttee was accepted and the
President of t] -e Board a. teorized to sign a receipt for the r.cney .the
motion being carried by the affirmative votes of Trustees =lack.
Blod;-.ett.Hale and Lawrence._rustee Rich voting no.
Committee of the Whole reported t_'?:i; it was not in favor
of leasing the city lot at the corner of Sacramento and Lodi Ave.
for any specified length of tiee. 0 motion.the rep:rt of the Commit-
tee was adopted.
The matter of making -` improvements in the +'a" er plant with
a view to securing more waterwas referred to Cor ..ittee., of the whole.
Marshal Coleman reported that he had gone to Sacramento
and examined the discarded steel cages.and that it wfind Lot be
practical for the city tc purchase them. The ratter of fixing the
transformer house so as to ie used rartly.as a laii was referred to
Marshal Coleman,Superinte:ident :Benning and the Buildir.g Co nittee.
Superintendent -enning reported that he would li}_e to
purhase 4 poles fro::: ;estern States Gas & E1.Co..two cd said poles
being located on Main Street and.two in the alley between 'fain and
Stockton -Locust aLd Eli: Streets. Referred to _resident Lawrence to
take up with the company.
On r::oton.cf Rich.S;perinten^ent re:•_ning was authorized
to purchase 8 Corey ydrants.s-ch number as mi: -,ht be specified by
the Street Superintendent to be provided with crane attachment.
Claims against the city amounting to the sun 0f 8388.38.
