Municipal Building.Lodi,California.Nov.25,1912.
In adjourned regular session of the Board of Trustees of
the City of Lodi.the following trustees being present: C.A.Black.
F.o.Hale,G.E.Lawrence and C.A.Rich. Absent: Trustee J.1.•:.Blodgett.
President Lawrence presiding.
The minutes of the meeting of Nov.18,1912,were read and
approved.
The following applications for building permits were read
and granted:
J.A.Jackson,barn.on lot 8 block 30;
Stanley & Son.dwelling.on lots 8&9 block 44 Ivory's Add.;
J.E.Thompson.chicken house.on lots 15&16 -block 48;B&r: Add.;
Moore & Roper.printing office on lot 5 block 10.
H.M.Starley.of the East Side Club,suggested that lights
should be placed on the long block on E.Pine St. Referred to Public
Utilities Committee.
The Lodi Sentinel made a proposition that the Board make
that paper the official raper from date until the last of Apri1,1914,
and in consideration thereof it would publish the ordinances of the
city at the rate of 33 1/3 cents per square. Laid on the table.
Trustee Black stated that Miss Esther Spiekermann,who is
only a few months under eighteen years of age,desired a permit to
operate a motor vehicle upon the streets of the city.
On notion of Hale.seconded by Black.it was ordered that
such a permit be granted.
The matter of the assessment of the property of John L.
Willson,who under the provisions of Section 14 of Article XIII of
the Constitution of California.is entitled to a-1 exemption of $1000.
assessable property. The opinion of the District Attorney that the
Board had the power to order the cancellation of such erroneous
assessment was read.
On motion of Rich.seccnded by Black,it was ordered that
the Clerk modify the assessment of said John L.Willson to comply
with the constitutional provision.
Superintendent Henning stated that Pacific Tel.& Tel.Co.
wanted to purchase a one—half interest in four poles on Tokay St.
east of Central Avenue.a.'id that the half interest was worth €20.00.
On motion of Rich it was ordered that such half interest
in the four poles be sold at that price.
ORDINANCE NC.65.
Ordinance No.65.entitled."An Ordinance Licensing for the
Purpose of Revenue and Regulation Every Kind of Lawful Business
Herein Specifled.Transacted or Carried On within the Corporate Limits
of the City ofX Lodi,State of California,Fixing the Rate of License
Tax upon the Same,Providing for the Collection of said License Tax
and Punishment for the Carrying On of such Business without a License
and Repealing Certain Ordinances",having been read and intr-duced
or. Nov.lBth..was read and placed or. passage.
It was moved by }ale.seconded by Rich.that Crdinance No.65
be adopted as read,which motion was carried and the ordinance adopted
by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees Black.Hale,Lawrence and Rich.
Noes: None. Absent:Trustee Blodgett.
Thereupon said ordinance was duly approved ad signed by
the President of the board of Trustees.
The City Clerk reported that the compromise contract with
Ethel Williams had been properly executed and the first payment made
thereon to W.H.Carlin.Attorney for Mrs.Wiliians.
