Municipal Biii1ding.Lod1.Cal_fcrria.Nov.11.1912.
In 4 ourned regular session of the Board of Trustees of
the City of Lodi.the following trustees being present: C.A.Black,J.M.
Blodgett.F.G.Hale.G.E.Lawrence and C.A.Rich. Prsident Lawrence presid-
ing.
The minutes of the meeting of Nov.4.1912.were read ar:d ap-
proved.
F.L.Marchand.on behalf of Mr.F.Wentland.stated that Mr.1 ent-
land would like to connect with the city rater,but that there was
a strip of land six feet wide between his land and the city mains;that
said six feet of land belonged to C.L.Buell.and Wentland could not
cross it to connect with the main.
A communication from Western States Gas & Electric Company,
offering to let us use their transformers to carry the city load while
the city was moving its transfcrmers.at the price of $25.00 per day
or fraction thereof,wae read.and the Clerk instructed to make a suit-ahisx
able reply thanking the company for Unix beneficence.
A communication from C.C.Van Pelt.asking for lights at
the corner of Tokay St.and Cherokee Lane.was read and referred to
Public Utilities Committee.
A letter from Pacific Tel.& Tel.Co..asking to be allowed
to purchase a one-half interest in five pole s or. N.Pleasant Ave..
was referred to Public Utilities Com::ittee.which committee.on the
recommendation of Supt.Henning.reported that the half interest in the
film poles mentioned was worth $32.50. On motion of R1ch.the report
of the committee was accepted and the half interest valued at $32.50.
The following applications for Building permits were read
and granted:
H.N.1.'adison.barn on lot 3 block 1.Barnhart Tract;
I.O.o.F..improvements to building at 105 and 107 N.SacrarertcSt.
The following permits for the removal of old,deteriorated
buildings were granted:
Hattie B.Bewley from lot 3 block 20 to lot 2 block "C"A.& P.Add.;
John C.Bewley from country to lot 5 block 11 Hutchins Add.
When the application of Hattie B.Bewley was read.J.M.McMahon.
a property owner in the distrcit into which the building was proposed
to be moved.:.rotested that the removal of old buildings into any
district is not for the public interest and that it depreciates the
value of property in the district into which it i:: roved.However.the
permit was granted without an opposing vote.
The claim of Lodi Sentinel of $34.25 f:r printing and publish-
ing was allowed and oredeed paid.
President Lawrence stated that he had been asked if the
city would furnish light at the Salem School for the Mothers' Club
meetings.if they would do the wiring of the building. It was suggested
that this club might also meet at the city hall.
J.K.Newfield of the Merchants' Association stated that this
association was getting out literature to advertise the community.
and wished the assistance of the City in a financial way.
RESOLUTION.
The following resolution was introduced by Trustees Black
and Rich.and,on motion of Blodgett,laid on the table until our next
regular meeting:
BE IT RESOLVED: that the sum of Two Hundred Dollars ($200.00)
be and the same is hereby appropriated for the purpose of advertising.
Isdi and the City Clerk and President of the Board of Trustees are
hereby authorized to draw a warrant against the General Fund of the
City.in favor of J.K.Newfield.President of Lodi Merchants' Association.
for said su:^.or a proper demand being made therefor.
ORDINANCE N0.64.
Ordinance No.64.having been intrcduced :;n Ncv.4.1912.was
read.
It was moved by Rich,seconded by Biodgett,that Ordinance
No.64 be adopted as read.
I, was moved by Blodgett.seconded by Black.that Sec.29 of
Ordinance No.64 be amended to read as follows:
Sec.29.- The City Clerk shall certify to the passage and approval
of this ordinance.and shall cause the same to be published once in
The Lodi Sentinel,a newspaper of general circulation printed and
published in the City Of Lodi,which motion to amend was carried by
the following vote: Ayes: Trustees B1ack.Blodgett,and Lawrence:
Noes: Trustee Rich. Absent: Trustee Hale.

.It was moved by Blodgett,secnded by Black.that the ordin—
ance be adopted as amended,whic:i motion was lost by the following
vote: Ayes:Trustees Black,Blodgett and Lawrence. Noes+ Trustee Rich.
Absent: Trustee Hale.
It was moved by Rich.seconded by Black,that the ordinance
as amended be laid on the table for not less than five days.which
motion was carried by the foll:wing vote: Ayes: Trustees Black,
B1odgett,Lawrence and Rich. Noes:None. Absent: Hale.
