In regular session of the Board of Trustees of the City
of Lodi.the following trustees being present:C.A.Elack.J.1'.Blodgett.
F.O.'iale.G.E.Lawrence and C.A.Rich. ?resident Lawrence presiding.
The minutes of the meeting of Sep.23.1912.were read and
approved as read.
The followin7 reports for the month of September.1912,were
read.and accepted and ordered Filed:
City Marshal.Poundraster,Flumbing Inspector,and Engineer.
The following, appli^ati'ns for building permits were read
and granted:
F.J.Beaty.dweliing on lot 17 block 7.8arrhart Tract;
E.F.Van Vlear.garage on lot 1 block 9.E.Lodi;
Wells,Fargo & Co.,Exp.Office on P P Reservation.
The application of F.G.Cary to co:.struct a frame building
on lot 13 of block 15 was denied.as being a frame building within
the restricted fire limits.
Black's Garage was granted a permit to place a gasoline
tank in the alley north of lot 7 blocs: 18.in accordance with the a
Underwriters' Rules.
The application of Cit:: Street Improvement Company for a
permit to improve W.Fine and Church Street intersection was read,and
on rootion,granted.
The questions of Marshal's Office was discussed but no
action taken.
A communication -Cron. Lodi '.'ercrants' Association..recommend—
ing that vehicles be not allowed to stand in front o: business houses
for an indefinite length of time was read.and the period of sixty
minutes agreed upon as the limit.
A com-uni^ation from the League of California Municipal—
ities requesting the Board to pass a resolution advocating the adopt—
ion of the "Home Rule in Taxation" amendment.was read and laid on
the table.
Various claims against the City.amounting to $58:e9.54.
having been approved by the Finance Comraittee,were allowed and order—
ed paid.
The claim of Western States Gas & Electric Company of
81075.00 for September power was allowed in the sun of x1025.00.
being the amount for which it was approved by Supt.iienning.
The claim of the Firemen for service in turning cut to a
fire outside the City was not allowed.it being the opinion of the
Finance Committee that it was not just to pay City money for the
protection of property that pays no taxes into the City treasury.
The claim of eester:. States Gas & Electric C:npanyv MI..
$314.45 for repairs to a burned transformer was discussed.and the
clerk instructed to notify the company of the action taken on May 8,
1911,asd that the Board had not receded from its action of that date.
On motion the Board adjourned until Gct.14,1912,at the
