In regular session of the Board of Trustees of the City of Lodi.the following trustees being present: C.A.B1ack,J.M.Blodgett, F.O.Hale,G.E.Lawrence and C.A.Rich. ?resident Lawrence presiding. The minutes of the meeting of July 8,1912,were read and approved. A communication from the Lodi Merchants' Association,asking for the strict enforcement of the ordinance against the throwing of cireulars,etc.,::as read and filed. A communication from Industrial Accident Bcard,stating that they had neither jurisdiction or knowledge in the matter of settle— ments between the city and the insurance company. The application of City Street Improvement Company for an extension of 30 days from July 19,1912,in which to complete their cortract,accompanied by the wirtten consent of their surety,was read, and,on motion of Hale seconded by Black and Blodgett,the extension was granted. The flocwing applications fcr 3uildine Permits were read and granted: Fi.H.Cutts,addition to market at 7 E ELm St.; L.E.Erauer,dwelling on block 6,E.Lcdl; Pacific Fruit Exchange,fruit shed on Barnhart Tract;. Beckman & Thompson,warehouse on lets 10,17,18 block 16. The report of St.Supt.H.E.Cdlerian.stating that the workxxxx under Resolution of Intenticn Nc.2 had been completed according to the plans and specifications and to his satisfaction,was read and, on motion of Rich,the report was accepted. Supt.Henning stated that the air compressor at the pumping plant was broken,and asked authority to get a pump,shafti:g,belting and pulleys; and,on motion of Black seconded by Elodgett,the Supt. was authorized to purchase such appliances as he deemed necessary. Chief Stark stated that the water trough near•Setzer's shop was in the way of the fire plug and should be moved. The matter was referred tc the Street Committee with power to act.ar:; also to select suitable sites for public water troughs in the city. A gedde map of the alley alley in block 16 between Pine and Oak and the alley in the same block from the first mentioned alley tc School Street wassub:mitted by Engineer :.:cAfee,and.on notion of Blodgett seconded by Hale,ti-.e map was accepted and the grades shown thereon declared to be the official grades of said alleys. Supt.enning stated that the engineers at the water works each desired a vacation. '::atter left in his hands with authority to grant the vacations if he desired. Crdi. ince No.6C,grantine. the franchise to Central California Traction: Company was read,and.on motion of Rich,introduced and laid en the table for not less than five days. The Street Committee was instructed to make a report on the matter of the franchise at the next meeting. In the matter of painting poles it was ordered that the Pacific Tel.& Tel.Co.be requested paint the joint poles and render their account to the city for one—half of the expense. On potion of Rich seconded by Black,t'r.e report of the Committee was accepted. The following claims,having been approved by the Finance Committee,were allowed and ordered paid: C.I.R1ce,third payment, 4.1GCC.GC C.I.Rice,bill for extras, 47.45 Jacob Hepper,Labor,- 21.50 Total, t10CS.95 Cn motion of Black seconded by=lodgett,it was ordered that a line be run to the Corbin property in the Barnhart Tract.
