In adjourned regular session of the Board of Trustees of the City of Lodi,the following trustees being present: C.A.Black, J.M.Blodgett,F.O.Hale,G.E.Lawrence and C.A.Rich. President Lawrence presiding. The minIttes of the meeting of July 3,1912, were read and approved. The report of the Pound.-naster for the months of May and June was read and approved. A resolution from Lodi Merchants' Association asking that higher licenses be imposed on fakirs and vendors was read -and laid on the table. The opinion of Attorney Percival as to the rights of the gas company In laying pipes was read and filed. Rev.J.J.Haley,of the Christain Church,Rev.C.C.liirtland of the Congregational Church.and Mrs.Belle Aright of the Woman's Christain Temperance Union,or. behalf of their various organizations, presented petitions asing that the Board take steps to abolish im- moral dancing. On motion of Rich,secinded by Blodgett,the Clerk was in- strcuted to write the League of California Municipalities for copies of ordinances regulating dancing. Applications of City Street Improvement Company to improve the alleys in block 1G were read,and,on motion of Hale the permits were granted. It was moved by 31ac::.seconded by Hale,hat all poles in. the city be painted black to the height of 8 feet,and that within the district bounded by Locust and Cak.School and Stockton Streets, the part of the pole above the black be painted white.The poles to be letter "Post No Bilis" in white about six feet above the ground. The clerk was asked to again write the companies having poles on Sacramento Street to get to7ether on one line. Ordinance No.59,"An Ordinance Amending Section One of Ord- inance No.One",having been introduced on July 1,1912,v:as read,and on motion of Blodgett,secor:ded by Rich.the ordinance was adopted as read by the affirmative votes of 31ack,Blod.gett,Hale,Lawrence and Rich. Supt.Gregg declined to approve claims of Contractor Rice, stating that he could only approve the roof,plastering and carpenter work. After some discussion,the matter was referred to the Committee of the Whole. On motion of Black,it was ordered t aht we appropriate for music for concerts to be held once a week on any except Wednesday evening,the sum of $15.00 per concert to the Tokay nand,said appropr- iation to continue for twelve weeks. Profile No.3,by Engineer 3.W.McAfee,shewing profiles of Pine St.fr.School to Pleasant,School St.fr.Pine to Lodi,Lodi Ave. fr. School to Hutchins,were presented,and,onrotion of Blodgett,ap- proved and the grades shown thereon declared to be the official gm grades of the aforesaid streets. The Board adjourned.
